Question Changes with ADE dont show up in sim

Hi guys,

Recently I have started using the Airport Design Editor 9x software with Flightsimulator X. So now I have a question How can I manage the get the changes of an airport to show up in fsx? I made some changes of an airport removed some buildings and Jetways but when I fire up at the airport the objects are still there I guess I am doing something wrong hehe. So I am making some changes and then I am saving it.

Well, reading the manual would really help!

You have to Export/Compile the changes into a unique folder within the ..\Addon Scenery folder, such as:

P:\FSX\Addon Scenery\33MO_LeamingField\Scenery\33MO_ADEX_BL.BGL

As Bill says, saving will not put the changes into FSX. You need to use File > Compile and save the compiled airport in your addon scenery area.

Also make sure that FSX is not running when you compile.

I have to repeat my last post. With you modified airport open in ADE - Go to the File menu and click Compile. When asked for a folder to save it in go to the Addon Scenery\scenery folder in your FSX setup and save it there. The .ad2 file is the ADE project file that ADE understands but FSX does not. The .bgl file that is created by File > Compile is understood by FSX and contains the changes you made.

Okay I got it now but just one more question so I removed all the buildings in the scenery just to try to make a fs2004 scenery work in fsx because when I install the fs9 scenery into fsx the fsx main scenery buildings allso show with the addon scenery. so now I onder is it possible to install the ADE changes and addon airports and make the both changes work together?

Maybe, but I think you should start with a simpler project untill you underestand ADE better. Using ADE to remove buildings, then installing the FS9 airport is not the way it works. Forget using the FS9 scenery and try to reproduce it in ADE.

So tell us more of what you are trying to do so that we can help. Sometimes you have to break things down step by step.

okay I would like to use a fs9 scenery addon for fsx the scenery is only aviable for fs9. So now I want to make it work in fsx. The addon is Swedflight ESMS sturup. So when I put the addon files into the addon scenery folder in fsx and start it up the addon is there but the fsx deafult buildings and taxiways are allso there to it is like there are two diffirent scenery objects on each other. But if I can remove the fsx default scenry objects and correct the taxiways so that they fit with the addon scenery then it would be really good.

I would say you need to load the addon airport into ADEX and then Tools > Load Stock Data and load the scenery objects. The FSX buildings at the airport should then appear in the ADE project. Select each one and delete it using the Delete Key. Make sure to remove the original addon airport and then Compile the revised one in ADE and save it to Addon Scenery\Scenery. See if that helps. I do not know why you should get duplicate taxiways but if they are not gone then maybe the SwedFlight airport have been created with Gmax or similar, or possibly you have another file with this airport in your FSX installation.

Well your problem is that you are using the BglComp that comes with the original FSX DVD - this has a bug that stops fences being compiled. You need to update your SDK to at least SP1A - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...a-647b7e28f212

PS If I had a $1.00 for every time this has been reported since the release of FSX I would be retired and living in luxury It is in the FAQ....
