No Toolbox Again

First, thank you for any help you can give me.

Issue: Toolbox will not show up in FSX Acceleration

Background:

Brand new computer and a complete reinstall of FSX Acceleration.

I put FSX on the "I" drive.
I used FSX_SDK as I read I should in the thread for my SDK and put it on the "I" drive as well.
I have deleted everything in the dll except SDK files. The toolbox still did not show up.
I have made sure all the entries for the toolbox are "False"
I have deleted my fsx.cfg file and rerun FSX as suggested.

dll.xml incorrectly edited in 3 locations as -
Code:
<I:\FSX_SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path>
Should read -
Code:
<Path>I:\FSX_SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path>

BAsys,

Thank you for your quick reply. I made the change you suggested. I am sorry to report I still do not have the toolbox showing up. Can you suggest something further?

Thank you,
Jim

As long as you corrected the three paths, I have a few other questions for you.

Why did you post an ADE report? It shows me that you don't have FSUIPC installed, which you need to be able to connect FS to ADE.

Where is your xml installed?

Post your corrected file.

Bob

The ADE Checker has nothing whatsoever to do with ADE. All it does is to check that various support programs are installed.

Hi Folks

Cheers George.

Bob & Bill -
This forum is SDK Installation.
Requirements met as per this forum's sticky - READ FIRST: FSX SDK installation (all versions)
Reasoning as George explained.

Jim -
As Bob correctly suggests,
please post the path/location for your dll.xml file
and your latest/corrected version of that dll.xml, (wrap in code tags, # icon above).

Are the non-in-game DOS/"Command Window" based tools working ?

If not -
Have you run ConfigSDK.exe from the SDK root ?

Paul,

Thank you for your help.

I don't know if this is a red flag, but I do not have any entries in my fsx.cfg file for any of the SDK strings. I tried deleting the fsx.cfg file and then rerunning FSX to see if that would help, but the SDK strings still did not appear.

The non-in-game DOS/"Command Window" based tools are working, and I have run the ConfigSDK.exe from the SDK root.

Here is my xml file as requested.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
  <Descr>Launch</Descr>
  <Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
  <Disabled>False</Disabled>
  <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
    <Launch.Addon>
 <Launch.Addon>
  <Name>Object Placement Tool</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>I:\FSX_SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>
  <Launch.Addon>
    <Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>I:\FSX_SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path>
   </Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
    <Name>Visual Effects Tool</Name>
    <Disabled>False</Disabled>
    <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
    <Path>I:\FSX_SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path>
  </Launch.Addon>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

Which copy of dll.xml are you editing?

There are several in the SDK tree but they are not used. Depending upon the operating system, the active file is in C:\Documents and Settings\"FSX user login name"\appdata\... or C:\Users\"FSX user login name"\appdata\roaming\...

George,

Thank you for your help.

I am using the one under my user account:
C:\Users\Jim\appdata\roaming\Microsoft\FSX\dll.xml

Hi Jim,

I just noticed in your listing there are duplicate lines:

Code:
    <Launch.Addon>
 <Launch.Addon>
Delete one of them.

Success at Last

Paul and George,

Success at last! I started reviewing old posts instead of pulling my hair out. I think it was actually George who had suggested running FSUIPC in an old post I read. I installed it and ran FSX and there was my toolbox and other SDK tools!

I want to thank both of you very much. I know you had to put up with me not following instructions exactly, and I want you to know how much I appreciate your help.

Jim

Probably because Pete's installer for FSUIPC fixed the error(s) in your dll.xml file!
