Airport design and construction standards

As the link provided in the manual for taxi signs doesn't work(for me anyway) I figured I'd put this link up for all to see. The ending number/letter might change as new revisions are added.

http://www.faa.gov/airports/engineer...ign_standards/
The most useful document is the AC 150/5300, which is a 324 page (as of rev. 13) document with all the information you need to design or correct airports.

For the taxiway sign document go to :
http://www.faa.gov/airports/resource...ory_circulars/
Search for "taxiway" and a few documents will be listed, among those the one mentioned in the manual...150/5345-44H

I am sure FAA follows international standards set forth by the ICAO, so using these for other airports should be fine.

One of the reasons my airport has taken so long, is that I have read everything about everything to do with real world airports, designs, placements, materials, etc...

Honestly, I could design a real airport and it would be up to code.

I know more about runway and taxiway materials and design specs than any one person should ever know. LOL

The docs you mention are very good reads and I second it...everyone that designs airports should give them a read.. Really gives you a new purpose when you are designing. At least it did for me
