learjunkie, I've PM'd you over at HC. Just wanted to let you know as it seems like you haven't been around in a while.

Anyway, the Cessna 402 looks awesome!

Yes, THIS! People have waited for some time to see an FSX-native Cessna 402, and this one is looking like a beauty! Excellent work so far! Another one to add to my watch list.

Thanks guys..yes we need a 402 in fsx..even fs2004 does not have one yet?
I am finding it difficult to get decent system info at this stage..but then it is only day 3... and things will be tweaked and rebuild 100 times. This is day 3 and just a basic layout.
...just keep swimming

2 cents thrown out there, but you might try contacting Cape Air. Their entire fleet of planes are Cessna 402C models, and they worked extensively creating procedures, charts, diagrams and training material for the plane with the FAA. If any professional group can claim to be an expert with the aircraft, they can, and might be worth a second point of contact along with Cessna on the project. They could help you with cockpit layouts, operational parameters, and other information integral to the plane's design.

Thank you all and Solowing... I will try them and see what they say. The Cessna 402B (and C model) is close to my heart as it was the first aircraft I can remember from when I was about 4 years old..so would like to build it as accurate as I can.

It looks like it is literally being built because of its color.

No help from Cessna..or Textron Infact I got told to buy a trademark license or else...

They have no interest to support the history of such an iconic aircraft unless we pay them for the privilege to do it our selves ( buying a license will not mean they will help with technical info / infact they said they don't make any resources available)...

I even offered to make it payware..then to donate it to a charity org that use cessna aircraft..or even to raise money for a cancer charity...but got a nasty email from their Vice President of licensing James Runstadler ...telling me how great it is that I want to preserve this aircraft..raise money for charity... bla bla bla but unless I buy a license they will take action against me!

They have no interest in maintaining history or supporting a charity unless we pay for it! They do the annual Citation Cancer run where they ask owners of Citation jets to fly patients to treatment hospitals...but expect the owners of these jets to carry the costs ...while they take all the corporate credit . Textron seems to be another "can't touch this" company that milks everyone and everything for all they can I understand the value of Trademarks and Brands..and their need to protect it, but clearly there are no conflicts in this..in the old days Cessna would have payed us to promote their brands...

I was wondering if Carenado ever got a license? Or is it because they are in Chile that they are not required?

They probably didn't. You just stumbled upon the biggest issue with creating real plane models at a professional level. I'm sure only a small amount of payware planes actually have a build license, or the support from the company itself.

Eaglesoft has been paying Textron/Cessna for the past few years for the "privilege" of selling our CJ1, CII, and CX models. We have one more model to finish*, and then we are through with any further work on Textron/Cessna products.

*Actually, that model may never be finished and released...

I find it's the smaller companies that tend to be nicer - Angel Aircraft are assisting us at the moment, manuals, blueprints, photos etc - and they seem just genuinely enthused to see their aircraft in the simulator. I only hope we do it justice as 'payment'...
