• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Since the first version of ObPlacer XML was release, the option to place GenericBuilding objects has been on my wishlist. And now I have started coding it :).

Below are two preview pictures of my work in progress. As you can see there is a preview of your GenericObject in the bottom right corner. This is not a simple picture, it is a spinning 3D model of your object. And it will change dynamically with the options you enter. This way you can very easy see what you are going to make.

The basics of this are working, but I still need to add a lot of code to let all variants of the GenericBuilding work and also to make sure they are written to and read from the XML file correctly.

And for a future version I hope to use such a dynamic preview for the other objects as well, but before I can do that I need to finish MDL Tweaker II with the code that can read the MDL files.

That's a very good idea, Arno. :)

I think it must be very tricky because all programs I know, which have this option, are not very good in handling. I created two simple buildings with SGX, but it took me much longer than it would have if I created it with GMax...

Hope you'll succed with this work. ;)

Wow!
That looks like it is going to be one awesome program! I'll never forget that the first building I created with XML code for FS9 was this horrid box with really messed up textures  , partially because I couldnt see what the textures would look like. So I can't wait for this release!
