Hello experts !!

It's been a while that I didn't come on this site that I like so much, I am happy to see the developer part is still active, this is great :)

I have a problem with the language.dll file on FSX-Steam Edition, here it is:
- My EasyFMC add-on can generate flight plans that can be saved. In order to save them at the right location, I read the language.dll file because the name of the FSX file directory is indicated there and it depends on the locale of the sim:
- "Flight Simulator X files" for the English version
- "Fichiers de Flight Simulator X" for the French version
- Other values for Spanish, Italian, German...

So reading entry #36864 in language.dll solves the problem, you just have to read there and you find the name of the folder to save your flight plans. It works perfect with FS2004, FSX and P3D.

But Steam did things differently !! Why? I don't know...
It appears that with FSX-SE, the flight plans should be saved in "Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition files". So you should expect the entry #36864 would be updated to reflect this change. but NO !!
They left the standard FSX value at #36864 (that is "Flight Simulator X files") and they created a new entry #36893, which exists in no other version of this language.dll and contains the right value "Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition files".

Of course, EasyFMC reads entry #36864, finds a good value and saves the flight plans there, at the wrong location...
Did any of you also noticed this problem?
I can find a fix but it will make my code ugly... Did I go wrong somewhere?

Thanks for any help !!
Eric

If you have FSX Boxed installed alongside FSX Steam, the latter will create its own registry entries and configuration folders in order not to mess things up.

Your problem is one that a lot of payware devs needed to solve after the release of FSX:SE, so at least you're not on your own.
