• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there,

I have made approach lights model using Blender. Unfortunately, the model not cast shadow. "No Shadow" setting was set to false in MCX and the shadow appear nicely in MCX screen. After it was compiled into BGL and load in the sim, the shadow not appear. Does anyone knows why it is so? I can see other default building shadows appear in my sim such as tower, aircraft and etc.

Check all of your textures in MCX and make sure that noshadow=false for each of them.

As I am aware if there are problem with the texture then the shadow should not appear in P3D too. But in P3D all work perfectly

If I could get FSX:SE to reinstall, I would troubleshoot the issue for you some more, but my Steam folder seems to be corrupt or something. (I cant delete any remaining files and when I try to open folders, it says something along the lines of content not found.) If I can get the issue resolved, I'll have a better look, but until then, maybe someone else will chime in.

Edit: Got the folders deleted. We'll see if FSX:SE wants to install now..

Do you use steam desktop app? If yes, you can delete and reinstall back with it.

I guess I closed my browser without posting my message the other day. Anyways.. I did get it reinstalled. Had to go into safe mode to delete the stubborn leftover directories. Shoot your files over to me and I'll take a look.

Today i found another issue with the shadow problem in FSX.

Actually the shadow does appear but only when it is far from the model (See images below). I am not sure why it is happening so.

I recommend to post this problem in another sub-forum here, since it's probably not Blender-related but FSX-related. Not all scenery guys pass by here ;)
