• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I was wondering if we can use Blender. What format do you export it to for use in MCX etc?
I use Blender and then export to MCX using the Collada .dae format. Austin Sass shows how to make a hanger in Blender, texture in Gimp, export to MCX, and use in FSX. Search for his YouTube channel.

yes- dae file. and when ready... export as bgl or mdl to ADD to a library. With FSDS I make my model, map my textures from my texture library and compile to mdl to add to a library.... done... far fewer steps. same can be done in Gmax. I use my PSP (akin to gimp) to modify or make textures as needed. to wit- I have a massive texture library to draw from. (of course... as you know.... we ALWAYS need more textures! never-ending story ! hahaha)

This thread is almost 4 years old, before today the most recent post was August 18, 2013. One would think that the OP had gotten his answers by now and has already become well used to whatever technique he'd settled on.

Well- I just got the notice so I responded. If the issue is solved it would be nice to say so here and tell us what the solution was so all of us can learn. perhaps we just missed it is all.

Procedures for new posts to less recently active threads have been in effect here at FSDeveloper since at least the year 2013: :pushpin:

Bearing that in mind, I am very glad to have had this thread brought to my attention "now", as I had missed reading it when it was originally subject to "active" posting, and it has answered a question I had not yet found an answer to via my prior course of Google searches. :D

Many thanks to all who originally posted to this thread, and to those who opted to 'continue' discussing this information, as it is still quite pertinent to the FS / P3D development process. :)
