• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AI Ships and AIBTC

Messages

l am trying to have a ship go from A to B and back using AIBTC.

My Boat.txt is a default boat , one included in the samples
my Plans.txt is similar to the one in samples (change 8weeks to 2Hrs)
l drew a path in GoogleEarth and saved it as kml but when l try to
compile with AIBTC l get an error " Cannot read traffic. Need at least one route"

What do l do wrong ?

Thanks Alain , sorry l actually had 2Hr .
l think the problem is with the path l draw in google earth .
l haven't seen any explicit tutorials as how you draw the path from A to B and
how and what you save as kml.
What l did was after drawing the path (gave it a name in properties) , l saved it as .. kml
Why do l get the error and the traffic cannot be compiled ?

myBoats.txt
AC#1,25,"veh_carrier01_high_detail_sm"

myPlans.txt
AC#1,B7640,60%,2Hr,00:18:19,00:24:06,1754,reverse,ferry,01:18:19,01:24:06,1754,normal,ferry

and a simple path as per attached

Did you make sure the kml file is named 1754?
Not the kml file itself but inside when you look at the xml, there is a line called name. ie.
<name>1754</name>

That being said, I have had no trouble compiling the boat plan, however, I have never seen a ship one on my short routes I have tried. So if you become successful, I would love to have a copy of your Traffic.bgl file so I can decompile and see what my problem might be.

Furthermore your files must be named:
plans_xxx.txt
boats_xxx.txt
routes_xxx.kml

Can you show kml code ?

They are that (plansMyfile,boatsMyFile,routesMyfile)

kml file attached as text file

@ ricktk

Should l make the path longer , and what distance you suggest

Well
I needed to remove an extra space in the plan and tweak your kml.
Here are the files.
Having a closer look will give you the workaround.
Sail safe

Thank you ALain

l could have the files as a guide .

Traffic has been compiled now and it's at scenery/world/scenery
Started FSX , set GMT as per plans but there is no sight of the boat .
The traffic settings for ships and ferries in FSX is at 100%

ALain , is this the traffic_a.bgl , because l compiled it myself and l can't see the carrier .
Is there any problem with my FSX settings or what ?

OK

OS Windows 7 pro
FSX Delux

Display Setting
Scenery:
Scenery complexity = extremely dense
Autogen density = extremely dense
Traffic :
General aviation traffic density = 100%
Ships and ferries = 100%

What else ?

Can you tell me the exact position (Lat,Long) and GMT of your snapshot

Thanks

I guess you know more than I do about exact location
Time is about hh:20:00, each hour of day.

So if we have the same traffic file , same boat , same plan , WHY my boat is not visible and yours is .
Surely someone from the experts reading this must have an answer .

Three things to check.

1. Set ships and ferries to at least 60%

2. In map view, set your position to N38.388199 E23.795898

3. Set the GMT time to 14:17:00

And in top-down view you should see:

Hi George

No , it's not there and observe the coastline and the strange white continuation . Yours is clean .
l think l'll un-install and re-install FSX

Hi George
I would have thought an uninstall and reinstall of FSX was a pretty drastic and time-consuming step.

One of the things FSX is rather fickle about is flightplans, and believe it or not if you have just one flightplan from FS9 in your FSX setup that FSX does not like, then your aircraft carriers will not display.

WOAI flights can sometimes do this. I have been doing some extensive testing recently because of this problem. As an example there is a flightplan in WOAI American Airlines which will prevent your carriers from displaying.

I have a saved testflight that I use to test this problem. It shows an aircraft carrier sailing from Norfolk (KNGU).

If you have numerous flightplans stored in your FSX/scenery/world/scenery then try moving all of them off to a new folder (just on your desktop is useful place for it) to hold them. See if your carrier then shows. Then start dragging back your flightplans to FSX (a few at a time) and see if your carrier still shows. You will eventually track down your troublesome flightplan.

Cheers
Mike

I think you may find it's any FS9 fp that will stop all boat traffic showing. I've had this recently myself. None of the boat traffic was showing. The answer is to convert all your traffic.bgl's (senery/world/scenery) to FSX format. (backup first). There is a prog called 'bglfpfsxconvert' which should help although I've not used that myself.

Bingo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Mike , thank you a lot . That was it .
l removed the fs9 flightplans l had and there was the carrier , and she is landable too.
l have found FSX is fickle in many respects but when it comes to flightplans it drives you crazy . Experimenting with flightplans l have fouind out that :

It will take none of the fs9 plans . The boat disappears .
l deleted the boat traffic and re-installed the previous working aircraft traffic l had , which was working perfectly . The aircraft were not there !
l converted the fs9 .bgl file to FSX .bgl with a little convertor " bglfpfsxconv" which converts to a file with a funny extension .bglfs9 . The boat is there the aircraft are not .
Anyway , no big deal , l'll have to find a Ttools equivalent for FSX , to bring back my aircraft .

Thank you again . You've made my day

Cheers
