• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FsX SP1 released

FSX update

Hi, Jon and George

I asked a friend of mine about his version and the number is the same as the mine.

After my first SP1A update, I could not load FSX, but this was caused only by the Instant Scenery reference in the file dll.xml. My friend had no similar problem, but his FSX.exe version did not change.

I tried installing/unistalling by three time without suceed.

Do you think if I delete the register´s reference for FSX would help?

Well, when correctly uploaded, which are the mean benefits from SP1A? Which visual changes one can reckognize in the game?

Thanks for any suggestion.

Regards,

José

Hi José,

To see the new and modified features of the SDK, open sdk overview.html in the SDK main folder.

This is what I see for the properties of FSX.exe:

Presumably you have a Portugese version.

George

Mine is reporting the same version information as George. It is dated May 11. 2007

Same here, although mine has a time of 07:05. That one hour different must be the time zone offset I have with the UK :).

Jose, I guess there must be a language problem somewhere. When I still had my beta SP1 installed here the updater did not update it either. So I did a clean install and then it works. So I guess if the installer finds a version it did not expect, it just skips the file. Which version (language) of the update did you install?

Solved

Hi, Arno

A good friend, Paul, send me a message that clear the things:

This is what Paul told me:

Hi Jose

There seems to be some confusion.

There are 2 entirely seperate downloadable service packs.

FSX SP1 updates the sim
http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Pages/FlightSimulatorXServicePack1.aspx

FSX SDK SP1a updates the SDK
http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Pages/FSXSoftwareDevelopmentKitUpdate.aspx

You need to install both.

Now, everytihing is working.

Thanks to all people that helped me.

José

Horizon softwre and SP1 - issue resolved

Folks,
to update on my last post concerning the above. All now Ok since I re-installed VFR-GEN X. I needed to use the new installer issued by Horizon and switch off all extraneous processes. i believe an update process may have interfered with the original installation attempts.

All now running a bit more smoothly than pre SP1A patch, although the graphics rendering on my NVidia 8800GTX card sometimes goes blurry when it didn't previously.

Charlie

Hi......I installed the SP1A update directly as soon as it downloaded with no ill effects whatsover. I don´t think there is a language conflict since My Vista OS is in Spanish and I downloaded the English version since my FSX is in that language. Vista just ignored the language.............

Having decided to bite the bullet and start with a fresh install of FSX and SP! - do I still need to apply the Photo-Based Add-on Scenery Update and the alternate terrain.cfg that came out earlier on please?

No

Hi, Graham

No, you don't.

After upgrading your FSX (with FSX SP1), just install the original FSX SDK and then the FSX SDK SP1A.

Regards,

José

1) Insert DVD, wait for it to load the Installer, then cancel out.

2) From Explorer Window, look for folder cleverly disguised as ..\SDK

3) Doubleclick on the ..\SDK folder, then doubleclick on Seteup.exe

It's on disk one. Bill already gave all the other instructions.

Back again guys!!!!!!!!!!! I am using Vista Home Basic

I got the SDK form the disk ok!....now I have to "activate" it by modifying dll.mxl which I can´t modefy for apparently I have to "Make ownership of file"....can someone tell me how to do it in this OS???....I should have stayed in XP:mad:

Thanks:rolleyes:

cracked game with SP1

Just so you know, if any of you were using a cracked game, the crack will no longer works after installing SP1.

I'm one of them. Despite the fact that I bought a copy of the software legally, I had to crack it as the "activation key" provided with the game didn't work at all.

After installing SP1, the game asked again for activation keys and so on. The same nightmare again.

There was released "a new crack that works with SP1", but it's my impression that, after installing it, all the changes and improvements made with the SP1 were reverted. At least, the graphics quality have returned to their previous appearance (not quite good, despite being running in a relatively strong computer).

If anyone is in the same situacion, could you please say if you have the same impression?

I don't think discussing cracks is a really appropriate topic for this forum....

Good for you.

But the topic is "issues with the SP1", and I think this is one worth to be mention.

Why?

I remark: that crack was the only "way out" that I found to make an original product work, as the activation key provided in the product box was never acepted. This is a well known issue with FSX and I'm sure you have heard of it before.

It wasn't very pleasant to buy something and find out that, due their "anti-copy protections" you, the one who paid, is being in trouble to use the software.

So I just wanted to warn to the ones in my same situation.
