• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS Model LODs

How do you add a model with LODs using ADE? If I create LODs for MSFS objects with MCX, it generates a single .xml file plus separate .gltf and .bin files for each LOD. Models are added to ADE by selecting a .gltf file, which doesn't make sense when the object has LODs. It would make sense if...

MSFS Model and textures no go...working on this for days

Extract files from the attached modelLib.zip file. Place .bin, .Gltf and .xml files in your modelLib folder and the .png textures into the modelLib>texture folder. Add to model list in ADE and place model from right-click menu.

MSFS Model and textures no go...working on this for days

The model displayed in MSFS for me after adding to an airport model list and placing with ADE. The problem is not textures because what is seen in MSFS and in ModelConverterX has no textures.

MSFS Model and textures no go...working on this for days

Perhaps the problem isn't your use of ADE, but rather the model/textures? How about putting the model files and textures in a zip file and attaching them to your post?

    MSFS Model List

You need to copy the .bin, .Gltf and .xml files (or a folder containing these files) to the ModelLib folder in the Package Sources folder created when you started the project, assuming you checked "models" in "asset groups" when you started. Textures must also be copied to the texture folder...

    MSFS help with models

I don't know if it has anything to do with your problems, but the texture will not work in a texture folder within your model folder. The texture must be in the default texture folder in the ModelLib.

    MSFS Model List

I'm not sure how you did it, but it appears you are adding the model to library objects and placing from there. My custom model .bin, .Gltf and .xml files are placed in the ModelLib folder in Package Sources with or without their own folder and textures in that textures folder. The model is...

    MSFS Model List

Each model must also have a .bin and .xml file in the model library.

    MSFS Ground Shear

I can confirm that the shear was caused by adding flattens under some building models that included a falloff of -1. I previously reported that these flattens with a positive falloff distance caused all photogrammetry to disappear. In this case, the flattens are on the other side of the...

    ADE Odd line issues

As previously posted, I gave up on trying to place edge lines and taxi lights with path attributes. The edge lines would not follow a curve and attributes would pass from one path segment to the next past a node. Since most airports have irregular taxiways with varying widths, I found the use...

    MSFS Ground Shear

Pilots are mostly familiar with wind shear, but MSFS has added another crash-causing hazard that I term ground shear, shown below. What causes it, and how do I get rid of it. Most likely in this case I caused it somehow using ADE.

MSFS Start Flight Freeze with ADE Modified Airport

My bad. The loss of photogrammetry was not due to overlapping scenery polygons but rather setting a positive distance in meters for falloff in attributes for the flattening polygon. Instead, using -1 for the falloff resulted in no problems and made the flattening undetectable.

MSFS Start Flight Freeze with ADE Modified Airport

I learned my lesson that apron lights with zero spacing will result in a program crash when flying in the general area of an airport with that feature. Now I find that two overlapping scenery polygons can get an unwanted result. I placed polygon to flatten a small area which was within an area...

MSFS Start Flight Freeze with ADE Modified Airport

Once I noticed that the light spacing was in meters rather than feet, the spacing works great. It might be wise to have a default of 30 or something besides 0 in order to avoid what happened to me.
