• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Debugging WASM gauges How-To

Not very clearly though. The main WASM Debug page mentions that the two build types (WASM and DLL) need to match but it never says anything about HOW to switch the build type for the DLL. I had to search the forums to figure that out. And I gotta tell ya, "Fast WASM Compilation" doesn't...

    Debugging WASM gauges How-To

PROBLEM SOLVED! Truly newby mistake that I hate to admit but hopefully it will help someone else that is just getting started trying to debug WASM gauges. Turns out, my WASM Build type was DEBUG like I wanted but the DLL build type was still RELEASE. I discovered this by looking in the Wasm...

    Debugging WASM gauges How-To

Yes, I saw 4 files appear in that folder shortly after I started a flight with this test aircraft (.cache, .dll, .lib, .obj) but no .pdb or .natvis. I didn't even try to set a breakpoint until after the flight had started. VS2019 attached and later detached to/from FlightSimulator.exe just...

    Debugging WASM gauges How-To

Thanks for the suggestion, but that was one of the first things I checked. I'm new to WASM builds so I was a little surprised that there was not a pdb file generated in the \Debug folder that VS2019 outputs to. Is that normal? Is the debug information embedded in the .wasm file? The...

    Debugging WASM gauges How-To

Thank you @DragonflightDesign for the excellent guide to getting WASM debugging up and running! The hint about -AllowDebugger was especially useful. Your guide helped me get much farther than I had previously but I still can't seem to get breakpoints to work. In my...

MSFS20 SimObjects do not appear if OnGround = 0 when calling CreateAiSimulatedObject

Thanks for the reply @rhumbaflappy ! Yes, it is a flat plane. One workaround we've considered is to just bake in the vertical offset we need by moving the model origin down a little, but we haven't tried that yet. Turning it into a flattened cube is a good backup plan if the offset alone...

MSFS20 SimObjects do not appear if OnGround = 0 when calling CreateAiSimulatedObject

I am trying to place an oil slick on a body of water. Since I need to place it at random locations and possibly move it during the game, I am doing this with a SimConnect application and creating the oil slick object as a SimObject. The following code works just fine for placing an instance of...
