• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    XDim and YDim

Hi I’ve just bought a GeoTiff file from my local supplier. I just can’t come around the XDim and YDim issue. I have tried to figure out how to calculate it from the SDK Qmid and Lod values with no success. The example in the SDK “9e-6 is 9 x 10 to the power of minus 6 degrees” tells me...

FSXA Bump & Specular mapping decrease fps?

I am not sure if I understand your problem. If you have assigned the UV coordinates correctly to your model, the texture should show up in the right place no matter what size it is. Just in case. Remember, if you are creating the texture in Photoshop, you have to flip it before you can use...

FSXA Bump & Specular mapping decrease fps?

In most cases a bump/specular map can be smaller in size. If the diffuse map is 1024x1024 the bump/specular can be 512x512. Most of the time you won't notice the difference. However, if the bump map is defining lines, rivits etc., then a smaller size is not a good solution

    FSX Texture size

You are correct in one way, because you are losing pixels and the software will interpolate and make the image softer. On the other hand. If you are creating textures from a digital photograph, you will end up scaling it down anyway somewhere in the process.

    FSX Texture size

I normally create mine using 4096x4096. Then I scale them down to a suitable size. Its hard to know, but someday 2048 or 4096 is the common size, then I don't have to create the texture all over again. Reco

GMax objects do not show up in FSX

Hi I have created an object in Gmax, produced a xml file with a specific coordinates, and compiled the files to a BGL file. I have activated the addon in FSX, and it has first priorety. My problem is that it does not show up in FSX. I handed the file over to a friend of mine, and the object was...
