• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Bump/Normal Map displaying weird & incorrectly

Hi Vassilis, Sorry I haven't logged in for a while so I didn't see this. Are you able to go into a little bit more detail? I have an object that isn't double side with nothing assigned behind it and it still does it. Is your object complete closed of with no gaps in the mesh?

    GP Wizard Settings Error

That makes sense. My latest airport is 1934.87m AMSL so it's way over the 360 degree limit most airports would be in terms of altitude. Hence why the problem came up for me. Thanks for looking into this for me! I do have a work around which allows me to load the GP layers without having to...

    Santa Fe (KSAF) Preview

An update on Santa Fe! Thought I would post a screenshot, I haven't posted one in a while. Well, I'm still working on it. I just haven't had it in a state I want to take screenshots of it and post them. This is a work in progress shot. I haven't added all the details to the Ground Polygons yet...

    GP Wizard Settings Error

I tried saving the .MCP settings file before I clicked the Position Preset to add to the Ground polygons. It worked when I did that. But when I added the Position Preset then saved the .MCP file then reloaded it, then it comes up with that error. It's like the altitude that is saved to the .MCP...

    GP Wizard Settings Error

Hi Arno I get this error whenever I load the Ground Poly Wizard's settings file (.mgp) when creating ground polygons. It occurs both when I load older .mcp settings files and load new ones that have been save with this version of MCX. I have the latest development release installer. The value...

FSX Problem with Color or Texture Blending

Let me clarify with this screenshot. This problem wasn't to do with normals that have reversed in the modeling process. That is very easy to detect in 3Ds Max when that occurs. The problem was only when normal/bump maps were applied. I had the same problem 10 years ago when creating textures...

Bump/Normal Map displaying weird & incorrectly

I have attached a screenshot from in 3Ds Max to show you where the Vertices are in Red. Is that what you needed to see? I haven't included the windows which are separate objects. If you need anymore info I can send it to you. Thanks Che

Bump/Normal Map displaying weird & incorrectly

@joerlend @Pyscen Thank you guys for your help! I have done some more testing to figure out what is going on. Joerlend, I tried adding in the edges like you did exactly on the image on the left. It actually made it look worse unfortunately. :( Tried merging all the windows and doors together...

Bump/Normal Map displaying weird & incorrectly

I do have other hidden lines on other models which doesn't cause this issue. So it's something to do with this model, or the bump/normal map, or most likely a combination of the two. The roller door is placed multiple times on this building, though it uses the same texture for each one. In fact...

Bump/Normal Map displaying weird & incorrectly

Hi Rick, I do see what you mean about minimizing the vertices of the Models. Though I do have a process which I have used for years to keep the resource management as efficient as possible. You won't be able to tell by the close up of this door, but I model in such a way to keep the drawcalls...
