• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Aircraft.cfg Editor

I have put a LOT of aircraft into P3D since I moved over from FSX and I think I have only ever seen ONE instance of a sim.cfg file instead of the usual aircraft.cfg file. It threw me for a loop because I'd never seen one before!

    P3D v4 Calclassc CV-240 Paintkit

I totally agree and I find the continued non-existence of their file library to be a major annoyance. It is especially annoying as the Staff at SOH (I am an Admin there as you may know) offered to temporarily host their entire file library at SOH as a 'mirror' site so that all links to their...

The Dropbox links contain the model.

MSFS24 Batch converting PNG textures to DDS

If you are just looking for a way to batch covert a folder of textures from one format to another then a great tool to use is called 'Convimx' (for convert image x). It was created by the same guy who created the extremely useful DXTBmp conversion tool. DXTBmp will allow you to manipulate a...

    P3D v4 A simple BGL problem...or is it!

I just did as you suggested Arno and opened the original BGL file, selected all the parts, ran the 'set default opaque' template on the materials then exported and placed in the sim and nothing changed (see below).

    P3D v4 A simple BGL problem...or is it!

Hmmm odd, they are still black even after a computer re-boot and a re-visit to the location on a different day.

    P3D v4 A simple BGL problem...or is it!

I wonder if the model is actually a Sketch-up model hence the 'self-colouring'? It would be nice to have them the correct colour as they do add more realism to the hill tops.

    P3D v4 A simple BGL problem...or is it!

I did and it remained black! This is where I got the BGL from and it states it is compiled for FSX but it only appears as black in P3D v4.5? It's very odd! https://library.avsim.net/file/164849-offshore-wind-turbines-of-the-uk-300ft-agl-or-more

    P3D v4 A simple BGL problem...or is it!

No texture applied and no mapping. It's just the default model colour I think.

    P3D v4 A simple BGL problem...or is it!

I am taking part in an around Scotland helicopter event over at SOH and just to make things look a bit more interesting and realistic in P3D I downloaded a simple BGL scenery item of animated wind turbines at their geographically correct locations that I found on Avsim via a link from a UK...

    Looking for new moderation help!

I would love to help you out Arno as this site/forum has helped me out so much as a FSX developer over the years but unfortunately all my time is currently being taken up as an Admin at another forum. :(

    P3D v5 Aerospatiale AS350 Ecureuil

I'm not trying to nitpick here ............... but ............. isn't that panel a bit 'black'? As in 'looking for a black cat in a coal mine with the light off' black, or is it that the panel has not been textured yet and we are seeing the model without any textures applied to it...

    P3D v4 Fuel stat gauge

That's good to know, I still haven't found a replacement option for the gauge though. :( A colleague from another forum has also run into the same problem with that same gauge in his newly acquired P3D v4.5 too. I wish there was something available somewhere as it was a useful tool back in...

    P3D v4 Fuel stat gauge

Ahh ok...I wasn't aware that there were 64 bit .gau gauges I thought they were all 32 bit from FS2004 days and earlier.

    P3D v4 Fuel stat gauge

Back in the days of yore and FS2004 there used to be a brilliant little tool that provided oodles of information on fuel status, quantity, range, time 'till empty, etc., etc., etc. I was part of the SOH Round the World Race team and this tool was a 'must have' on any pop-up panel on any of our...
