• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS Add light emitter

Can a light emitter be added to a glTF file just using MCX? Example: add a light emitter on top of a buoy. The model was built using SketchUp. I don't know Blender at this point. Stiletto2

    MSFS Hardening a ramp problem

Hi Arno, Thanks, that worked! I forgot all about the Normal Factor after doing so many that were flat. Stiletto2

    MSFS Hardening a ramp problem

Hi Arno, I have been using the Attached Object Editor automatic landable platform feature for helipads. It works great. However, it does not seem to work for hardening a ramp. Any thoughts on how to get a ramp hardened? The ramp is a platform that is ramping up so it is not flat. Stiletto2

msfsbglxml - convert MSFS (2020) BGL files to XML

Hi Matt, Thanks for building this great tool. Great job! It can be very handy when analyzing a .bgl that is not doing what one expects or if a developer should lose their original source but still has the compiled package (it has happened to me). In testing, one thing I noticed is that the...

    MSFS Transparent texture issue

Thanks! Let me know if you find what that setting or attribute might be. So far everything I have tried has failed. Stiletto2

    MSFS Transparent texture issue

Hi Arno, It seems that there are two different sets of materials for the texture sheet when it comes to windows. The albedo color carries 4 numbers for each of the two materials. I am guessing the 4th number is an alpha setting but not sure. It should be noted that I am pretty sure that...

    MSFS Transparent texture issue

Thanks, Pyscen, for the idea. I will take a look at that. Stiletto2

    MSFS Transparent texture issue

OK, so getting back to window transparency .....I still have opaque windows after converting model from FSX to glTF even after setting alpha to blend in the glTF. Is there no solution? Stiletto2

    MSFS Transparent texture issue

I just noticed that the original FSX model had two specular textures that don't show up in the Material Editor after being converted to glTF. I am wondering what happens to the specular textures which were converted to .png files but don't even seem to be loaded when I display the .gltf model...

Ok, I will wait to see what you find out. Thanks! Stiletto2

    MSFS Transparent texture issue

When I batch convert an aircraft model from FSX to glTF that has transparent windows and *_bump.dds texture along with the main texture, the windows turn opaque and reflections in MSFS don't look right. Using the material editor I tried changing the alpha mode on the converted main texture (now...

Can Library Creator insert model names from Ez Scenery Txt file

Hi Arno, Thanks for the response. I have a lot of object libraries that are setup with the object name as the same and then use the object name/GUID text file to show the object real name when they used to be placed with Instant Scenery. I tried importing a .bgl file into MCX with the same...

Can Library Creator insert model names from Ez Scenery Txt file

Can Library Creator insert model names from Ez Scenery Txt file into old .mdl models that are now FSX files but still have the same standard model name. Each has an accompanying EZ Scenery type text file with GUID and unique model name. Ultimate destination is MSFS. Stiletto2

MSFS MCX Batch Convert to add prefix to object names

Just tested the new release and it works like a charm for me. As a byproduct of converting to glTF, the Day/Night switch is automatically set to True. Thanks, Arno! Stiletto2

    MSFS Automatically Set Day/Night Switch

Just tested the new release and it works! No more having to manually set the Day/Night switch to True. Thanks, Arno! Stiletto2

    MSFS Automatically Set Day/Night Switch

This sounds good. For example, does this mean that when a conversion is done from FSX to glTF, the Day/Night switch will be set to True automatically when FSX EmissiveMode is detected? Stiletto2

MSFS MCX Batch Convert to add prefix to object names

HI Arno, Hmmm......assigning material template would set all of the texture materials to day/night = True....even the ones that don't have night textures. However, I don't think that hurts anything when displaying in MSFS. I will try it. Stiletto2

MSFS MCX Batch Convert to add prefix to object names

Hi Arno, The rename object with prefix operator works great! Great job! Thanks, Stiletto2

MSFS MCX Batch Convert to add prefix to object names

Hi Arno, That sounds great! Also, did you get a chance to see if you could add a batch convert option to set the Day/Night option to True for any textures that have a _lm texture to match? I just went through 133 objects updating the Day/Night switch so it would really be helpful if you could...

MSFS MCX Batch Convert to add prefix to object names

I want to prefix all model names with the same prefix. So for example, "buoy" becomes "xyz_buoy" and "raft" becomes "xyz_raft" etc. You already have the ability in MCX to name all the models the same name with sequential suffix but that is not what I need. The advantage of the same prefix is...
