• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    P3D v5 Water Detection idea (work-around)

Hi, Could the procedure be adapted for mountain roads in FS2020? Like lakes and rivers, we often see them following the slope when in reality they are transversely flat. I had suggested this simple routine to Asobo: every x meters (depending on the desired degree of precision), transversely...

    MSFS Editing painted line type

    Thanks but no success.

    MSFS Editing painted line type

Thank but I had already tried, without success. The painted line object is not resizable.

    MSFS Editing painted line type

Thanks but this is what I did with the non-movment type, which is also wide. Definitely, the result is not convincing!

    MSFS Editing painted line type

Hi, I want to create a painted line larger than those offered in the editor. Anyone know where the source file (xml file I guess) for painted lines types is located? THANKS.

    MSFS Railroad

May be it is the beginning of something (painted line with custom material).

P3D v4 laborious first attempt to add photo scenery to ADE

Hi, With SBuilderX I traced the Quebec rail network in FSX. Would it be possible to do the same in FS2020? Thanks.

    MSFS Railroad

So what, we stop developing in FS2020, sit in the corner and wait for FS2024?

MSFS A solution for fs-base-genericairport bug in runway

I used a polygon with terraforming to add a flatten all over the airport. This is the bug! Then I simply remove the big polygon and used instead small ones where necessary.

    MSFS Railroad

It would be so simple for Asobo to add a function allowing you to create a simple path, with trees cleared on both sides, and to add the texture of your choice (road, railway, canal, etc.).

    MSFS Railroad

    ???

    MSFS Railroad

The railroad texture is definitely somewhere in the bowels of the sim since we can see it! All we would need to do is add the "road without outside airport" option in the editor, texture it and we could create paths and railway tracks as desired.

    MSFS Railroad

Allo, Here are two photos of railway tracks in the sim. The photo map.jpg was taken in an area with good aerial imagery. We only see a pale band, without other details. The photo generic.jpg was taken in a generic area, where aerial imagery is absent. The railway track is however much more...

    MSFS Train spot light

Thanks Arno. I will be satisfied with my temporary solution. Happy Holidays and thank you again for this wonderful “lifetime” gift that is this MCX!

    MSFS Train spot light

I try a temporary solution by making my lights symmetrical and moving them a little further from the loco. So I can clearly see the beams in front and beautiful light spots in place of the drawing of the lights on the texture (here the upper central light is closed). We can see the beam...

    MSFS Train spot light

Hi, I want to put some spotlights in front of my locomotive. In MCX I can add them easily then export the loco. In FS2020 I see the spot effects but not the light itself. I want to see also the light, not only is effect. ?? Thanks.

MSFS A solution for fs-base-genericairport bug in runway

Allo, A polygon from the fs-base-genericairports package dug a trench across one of the runways at our airport. We tried all kinds of solutions with the polygon tool, without success, until my colleague Dominic tried the simple rectangle tool and the hollow disappeared! If it can help you...! @+

    Time to Retire

Thank you Jon for all you have done for the FS community. You are one of the few creators whose achievements are useful, even essential, for all developers. Several of my airports have a bit of Scruffyduck in them! Take advantage of your family because, in the end, that's the most important...

Hi, All my runways but one in Nunavik are graveled. But on the FS20 world map they are displayed with asphalt or concrete? Somebody have explanation or clue? Thanks.
