• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Bgl2Xml beta

SOLVED!! Thanks so much for your help and input Jon. After you said it was running fine on your system I wondered if something buried in my was killing it. Turns out I had a backup agent from EaseUS\Todo that starts itself when the system boots, then sits around in the background doing...

    Bgl2Xml beta

Thanks Jon, really appreciate your input. My batch program shells a CMD.bat file which contains a script to launch BGL2XML. I've tried it set to various compatibility mode and with/without admin but get the same performance. Here’s a typical example:- D: cd \ cd "D:\#Data\BGL2XML_110518"...

    Bgl2Xml beta

Hi Jon, That'd be great - the .NET version would be a great start, thanks! (And are there any other dependencies?) I guess I'm mainly hoping that some other users of BGL2XML might report back how it runs on their systems and if they've noticed any kind of performance hit since the BGL2XML_ALL...

    Bgl2Xml beta

I've no idea what technology is used by BGL2XML but I downloaded the NetVer tool, extracted the XML from the test file and got the following results:- PC #1 (BGL2XML17 - Win 7 64 bit - AV on, firewall on): .NET ver 4.5.2 - XML generated in 1 second PC #2 (BGL2XML_ALL - no AV, no firewall)...

    Bgl2Xml beta

Hi all - back to the performance thing I'm afraid ( So I've found that if I run the GUI that comes with BGL2XML17 on a specific BGL file it takes about 1/2 second to generate the XML. But if I run the GUI in BGL2XML_ALL (May 2018) on the same file it takes upwards of 10 seconds to produce...

    Bgl2Xml beta

Hi all, Has anybody noticed that the new version seems a lot slower (v1.7 from the download link at the top of this Topic)? It's probably something I'm doing wrong (it usually is!) but I extracted about 1600 BGL files the other night and it took over 8 hours to complete (I run it in a harness...

    SOLVED - BGL2XML - Taxipath Spaghetti?

Mystery solved. For anyone else who stumbles into this, it was entirely my fault. I was using BGL2XML correctly to generate the XML for an airport but I was mis-interpretting the the "Start" and "End" attributes in the TaxiwayPath nodes. I was taking them to be a range of TaxiwayPoints (eg 19...

    BGL2XML - Taxipath spaghetti

(Cross posting from Airport Design forum) Hi all, I'm using BGL2XML to get specific airport details then render the taxiways and parking locations in a program I've written (VB6/OpenGL). The gates come out fine but the taxiway paths are a mess of spaghetti and looking at the data I think it's...

    SOLVED - BGL2XML - Taxipath Spaghetti?

Hi all, I'm using BGL2XML to get specific airport details then render the taxiways and parking locations in a program I've written (VB6/OpenGL). The gates come out fine but the taxiway paths are a mess of spaghetti and looking at the data I think it's because the TaxiPath nodes have no 'breaks'...

    Reading Local Terrain Mesh

Hi all, I'm one of those who rarely goes near the SDK but I'm willing to have a go if I can't find what I need elsewhere. So far I've drawn blanks on this so I'd appreciate any pointers? I want to read the terrain mesh local to the aircraft (up to 80nm away) so I can map terrain threats...

    How to position sounds?

Hi Brian Thanks for the reply - it's a timely reminder for me to post what I've found since my post. It seems the most important part of all this is to ensure the engine sounds are mono not stereo. The Aircraft.ini file contains a bunch of engine parameters which includes their individual...

    How to position sounds?

Turns out the add-on files I had were stereo which upsets the 5.1 logic somehow. I converted them to mono and they suddenly started coming from from all the correct speakers. In case anyone else stumbles into this the aircraft.ini file contains a section called [GENERALENGINEDATA] that holds...

    How to position sounds?

Can anyone tell me how to position sounds in the 5.1 surround soundscape? I'm using FSX and the wav files tell me they're mostly mono but although they all play through just my front speakers in Windows Media Player they go through the correct speakers in FSX (eg engines come from the back...
