• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    P3D v4 lat long coordinates

This might not refer to the requirements above at all... I remember doing some work, admittedly in FS2004, a long long time ago and using very basic XML, to carry out the conversion. It could probably be carried out in one or two lines if any way conversant with XML. I have no test vehicle in...

Trying to make a simple FLCH gauge (P3D)

if { (>K:AP_PITCH_REF_INC_DN) } there is a space between the if and the { it appears that way a number of times and even with the els { Maybe syntax has changed but I never found these to work in my own XML coding. Walter

    P3D v4 Switch/animation bool with night condition

Adrian, I would think that you also need something like this, to avoid it setting all night long... <Update> (E:TIME OF DAY, enum) 3 == if{ (L:knob_fcu_light,bool) 0 == if{ 1...

    P3D v4 Switch/animation bool with night condition

Adrian, I would think that you probably need (&gt;L:knob_fcu_light,bool) And (&gt;L:knob_fcu_display,bool) Walter

Hi SkippyBing Any idea how to easily know that the aircraft is in a landable position over the flightdeck, to incorporate that into the FDO gauge? Past the stern, over the deck and pick a height, let's say 10 feet above the deck? Walter

The LSO needs some form of input from the FDO gauge to tell him to signal something. At the moment that impetus to signal is provided by values in the L:VARs - (L:IsFlashTime, bool) (L:GS_Deviation, number) (L:CentreLine_Deviation, number). The FDO gauge must be amended to use those...

EduHir, thanks for your explanation of the formula. It really reinforces why I use the simple counters.... though I do use the notation to set lights blinking in <Visible> conditions. Walter

SkippyBing, 10 years ago!!! Sure you must have only been a nipper then! Obviously a very bright ambitious nipper too... From memory though, faint as it might be, why use a timer at all? Why not just set it to 0 or 1 in the code depending on which you wanted the LSO to signal? It was a very...

For this new figure to do his trick in the LSO gauge something would have to be passed to the gauge to tell him to get his act together. Does "cut" mean to "stop your engine"? When would the LSO tell the pilot to do this? Walter

EduHir, I think if I was going to have a counter it would be more easily read and understood than the current one for (L:IsFlashTime, bool) :) I simply do not understand the purpose of a timer in the situation. The 0/1 result has absolutely no relevance that I can see within the LSO gauge...

    Paddles-LSO

EduHir, do you have any idea why there is a complicated(?) procedure to calculate (L:IsFlashTime, bool) which is only ever going to be 0 or 1? I don't even get close to understanding what the formula will provide - more 0's than 1's, or more 1's than 0's? Or is it completely random...

    These are the values I found worked when making the video above, slight tweaks only <Gauge Name="LSO_USN" Version="1.0"> <Image Name="Backdrop.bmp"/> <Element> <Position X="47" Y="9"/> <Visible> (L:GS_Deviation, number) 1.0 &gt; (L:IsFlashTime, bool) 1 == &amp;&amp...

'fraid not. I've had a look at the original gauge, wow, it is way beyond me! I have a headache even from reading it. It seems to use infomation from the TrafficInfo gauge which I remember used to be vital to Radar gauges in FS9. :)

The LSO standing on the carrier deck needed some vital information carried in the 3 L:VARs (L:IsFlashTime, bool) (L:GS_Deviation, number) (L:CentreLine_Deviation, number) I hadn't actually tested the gauge using these variables since the original computing gauge was not available. So, just...

Now that is a bit of a shame. Always disappointing to have to abandon a project unfinished. Good to hear that you have saved all the files. Perhaps, some day, as you are landing your Dash 8 on a tricky runway in dicey weather and with one engine out, sweat running down your face and back, you...

    Paddles-LSO

It might be worth your while trying to display the values of the L:Vars being passed to your LSO gauge. Some other gauge is creating values for those variables. (L:GS_Deviation, number) (L:CentreLine_Deviation, number) (L:IsFlashTime, bool) I would display those values instead of the LSO...

    Paddles-LSO

No problem. Your LSO, standing out there at the bow of the carrier, buffeted by massive winds and drenched to the bone, wracked with pain from holding his arms out straight to the side in the Roger (OK) position for so many hours and your Swordfish not even in sight yet, understands that real...

I did, thanks, not a job for the faint-hearted! Did you try the gauge out? Did it work? I can not remember how fast the arms in the gauge worked on a wave off. I think they may have been a little slow, if so that is easily fixed. Let me know if anything needs fixing. Walter
