• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS Unable to create packages

@CudgedaveUk It would appear that if some custom objects build ok and one will not, then something is different about that build object that fails. If there is one thing that @Ironpot taught me, be consistent. A slight deviation, can spell doom. I did a quick scout about. Hopefully, others...

    MSFS Unable to create packages

Just to close off this forum question. I was greatly helped by 'Ironpot', who helped me with my folder structure and the correct completion of the 2 XML files. Mostly, it was my providing too much miss matching information when filling out info in the various SDK panels, and no doubt, resulting...

    MSFS Unable to create packages

Hi Denis, thanks for your reply. Your AssetPackage xml file and mine are very different. It looks like I need to better plan my sdk entries and determine what needs placing where. This hopefully, will reduce confusing the sdk. I also need to become more consistent, and get a "must do this...

    MSFS Unable to create packages

Hi Philip, Thanks for the reply and great advice. I will re-attack the project tomorrow. I wondered about the packageint info, and if used. I am all for removing parts not required, as they can end up tripping you up. The contentinfo jpg is interesting. I see from the console I get all sorts of...

    MSFS Unable to create packages

For several months, I have been creating airstrips for PNG, usually from forest/jungle settings etc with no issues using the msfs sdk v 8 and then v 9. However, since msfs updated both their flight sim and their SDK to v10, I have been unable to complete a project. I see the errors coming though...

    MSFS 2020 SDK Installation instructions

OK, I resolved the save and build issue. I had my Project Editor box underneath my Scenery Editor box, and could not see the [project name]. BGL file to open the build button on the Inspector box. I just need to organise the various boxes a tad better. The console appears to have an 'eraser'...

    MSFS 2020 SDK Installation instructions

I have just done a complete rebuild of MSFS this week, which means I now have version 10 SDK. It is good that we can rename aprons, polygons etc. I did not find how to save the project, and did not see how to build the project, as the way I used to do it seems to have gone? The console has...

One way runway settings in SDK

ok, I solved the issue. In the SDK for the runway properties, at the very bottom, there is a config called 'Runway Start'. There are two sections, Primary start and Secondary start. By default, Secondary start is enabled, but with no headings. if you require a one way runway for what ever...

One way runway settings in SDK

I am building a airstrip with a one way runway with left hand circuit. Landing can only be '04', and take offs can only be 22, due to one end of the runway(22) having high trees. What settings do I need to apply to the SDK to only get runway 04 for landing indicated on the MSFS world map?

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

Yeah, setting up is super important, and helps with not losing things, then its a case of getting the bits inside to talk to each other...Some times the journey of discovery has hills..:)

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

@stinger2k2 Maybe of value, I had looked at this before! I made the habit of when I had created the working!! project file structure, I made several copies. Blank project 1 etc to make sure everything is as it should be. Then, as I use one of the blanks for a project, I create a new blank copy...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

Yes, I often use his site for assistance. I got utterly lost with his system of file setup changing the .xml names and contents. So, I set up my file structure as previously advised and let the SDK create the xml files during the file save process. I have built several airports, well, more like...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

@stinger2k2 OK, I will try the autosmooth. "../texture/"..... I will use this. I wondered how to get the exporter to know how to get to my textures folder. Thanks.

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

And just looking again at the export system, do I have to type in the entire address for where my textures (if any) will go? I would have thought(hoped) that Blender would enable a search tool to get to the address. Last time I did the export, it some how omitted the xx.bin file, so I need to...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

@stinger2k2 Thanks for the reply. Nothing seems to happen when I am in object mode and the cone is selected and I right click, "shade smooth" I recall needing to lift the cone up to the datum mark, as now, below ground. I need this cone to be white. So are textures needed, as I want a low kb...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

@superspud Agree that people seem to have different folder setups, with maybe a common theme, depending on if they bring down xml files from the SDK samples or not, then requiring changes to the xml files. Thinking back to what I did when I lost my .bin file..I did not specify the texture...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

@superspud Hi...ok, getting closer. I managed to bring over into my modelib folder the cone.gltf and the cone.xml. So, it seems the .bin file did not come over for some reason. I am not sure if my file structure is correct now that I am brining in my own objects? Once I can confirm the...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

Hi @superspud , thanks for help. Getting closer. I notice though the actual cone, when in Blender, seems to be in the 'rough' with several faces. Looks like I need to battle Blender and see if I can smooth them. If not, then it is what it is.... @Davidws10 Can't help you at all. Though, I do...

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

When I import scene.gltf using the MSFS glTF(.gltf) I get an error. see pic. When I import scene.gltf using the gltf ver 2, nothing happens When I import the obj version I have, it returns the cube, with an outline of the cone see pic.

Creating 3D Assets for airport usage in MSFS

@superspud Thanks for the reply. I have Blender 2.83.12.0 and I have the Blender plugin installed...I think. See attached pic. 'vanilla Blender' ? Do I need to import my downloaded scene.gltf file? Can I change the file name, 'scene. gltf to cone.gltf to make it more finable in MSFS?
