• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Service for Animated People and more ...

Hello, dear friends. I’ve been back at it since the beginning of the year, and ever since SU4, developing for MSFS24 has been great fun again. In the meantime, I’ve been working on additional Next Generation Characters: They are all "Game Ready," meaning they can be used...

MSFS20 Wakes with the SDK visual effects editor - How to?

Hi Poirier. No, unfortunately, I didn't find a solution. Since the wake effect is no longer needed, the problem has since resolved itself.

MSFS20 Lights during day, but not night?

If your object is a SimObject, you could reference the light via a Visibility Code in the XML file. That should work. Regardless of whether the light is on or off, it will only be displayed during the time period you have defined. Something like this, for example: <Component ID="VehicleLight"...

    MSFS Route Editor

Perhaps someone from the "Mission Generator team" is reading along here and can gauge how interesting such a feature would be. Thanks for your reply, regardless.

    MSFS Route Editor

Hi. Your tool is truly very useful, as it allows you to enter waypoints directly—saving you the detour via Google Earth 👍 I have a technical question. Would it be possible to incorporate something like a "visibility code" into the World Script? The idea behind this question is to allow...

    MSFS24 Hair Material - MSFS24 Character

HI! I would like to give the characters I created for MSFS24 Dynamic Hair so that they appear a bit more lifelike when walking. To achieve this, I am currently using the same technique I applied to my new windsocks and flags, utilizing a Cloth Modifier. This works very well in 3ds Max...

MSFS24 Remove Before Flight - is it Physics?

Okay, the "Remove Before Flight" flag seems to be a keyframe animation - much like my flags and windsocks. The animations of these wind objects are pre-rendered. My hope was that my flags and windsocks could utilize MSFS24's "internal physics" - essentially, direct physics rather than just...

MSFS24 Remove Before Flight - is it Physics?

This is the technique I want to know about. How can I access this "formula" and create my own flag that also reacts to wind? Attaching the flag as an object would be the second step. For example, the MSFS24 Hot Air Balloon and the Banner that can be picked up by an aircraft. Various physical...

MSFS24 Remove Before Flight - is it Physics?

Hello Aircraft Developers Since MSFS24, there have been these animated "Remove Before Flight" flags. You can click them in character mode, and they disappear. This is used for realistic walkarounds with airliners, etc: Image source: MSFS24 SDK I've noticed that these "flags" are dynamic...

    MSFS24 bglindex.bout - Is the file redundant?

So the file is indeed listed: Perhaps it will become clear later what the file is actually for. It's no big deal though, Garry :) I'll just leave it in the package.

    MSFS24 bglindex.bout - Is the file redundant?

I completely forgot to attach the file here. But I also believe it's needed if it's already listed in the JSON.

    MSFS24 bglindex.bout - Is the file redundant?

Hello, the question is quite simple. I noticed that two of my current projects each contain a file named "bglindex.bout". Can I delete it, and what is it used for? Post thread

SketchUp Req. input on design options - raised and lower panels - textures or modelled?

Hi! I faced the same question as you in a recent project. I decided to model the wood panels instead of "just" applying a flat texture: Ultimately, it will come down to the amount of effort involved, but if it's manageable, then I would always emphasize the details. It gives your 3D model...

FSX [LIDAR] Zermatt / Switzerland Photoreal

Ah okay, then I misunderstood. The LiDAR scan data also includes color values? I previously thought that it was only the "pure" measurement data (without color values). But colors are visible in the images, hence my assumption that it's photography (LIDAR+Orthophoto=Photogrametry).

FSX [LIDAR] Zermatt / Switzerland Photoreal

I WANT TO GO BACK TO FSX!!! Switzerland in Photogrametry, who would have thought it? You've got me hooked with that picture of the Matterhorn 😁

MSFS20 Projected Mesh - short explanation

Hi Severin. As far as I remember, it was important that the object's reference point was at 0,0,0. This was true regardless of whether it was a small or large projected mesh. If you have multiple objects within a "large" projected mesh, then all objects must have their reference point at...

    MSFS20 Worldscript for ships

That's an interesting question! Is it possible or not? I mean, if there were a "randomness parameter" in the worldscript, then the objects (ships/vehicles) wouldn't always start in the same place :)

MSFS20 Projected Mesh - short explanation

Unfortunately, I can't answer that, as I don't use my own material library. My objects are textured with custom textures. The "MSFS24-Painted Lines" use Material from the MSFS24 Scenery Editor. I'm not familiar with the underlying technology.

MSFS20 Projected Mesh - short explanation

Hi. In my case, it's a combination of three techniques: aerial image projected mes layout, single projected mesh, and painted lines from MSFS24. If you want the entire layout in a single GLTF file, you need an aerial image as a background map, which you load into your 3D software. You can then...

    MSFS24 Elevator

That's great, that's truly amazing. I experimented with it about a year ago but didn't get good results. Absolutely fantastic that it works now, that's great news! 🙂
