• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS20 Aerial Imagery question

I am stomped with no idea where to go next, so here goes! Has anyone ever seen this before in MSFS working with Aerial Images? I am no newbe with Aerial Images. I have designed hundreds of them for FSX and P3D (all versions). I even did one for MSFS some time ago, but just for clarity...

MSFS20 Custom Aerial Scenery - trying to remove default land "detail" texture

Hi Everyone! I created a custom Aerial Scenery, however, it comes with some default land "detail" texturing... for instance, on asphalt parking lot, there are huge cracks - it looks more like a Death Valley lake bed . It makes the texture look messy and dirty. I would like to have a...

    Texture Shading Issue

Hey everyone, i used this 3 extra shading modifications to make a grass texture in random tile pattern and a noise texture to create some darker spots on the ground. In MSFS it doesn´t show up like this. It is just the albedo texture. Is there a way to implement my modifications on shading...

Bleeding Ground Textures Ground Polygon Problems

Hi guys, this started happening to one of my custom sceneries I created but only after SU5 in MSFS2020. Does anyone know about this issue? I've been trying to find information on it so I can resolve it. Please let me know the proper terminology or definition for this visual issue. It only...

    Flatten a embankment

Hi Guys, I want to flatten a embankment in my Scenery. Problematically I get only many, many hills, but no flat surface. I used polygons und rectangels, but with the same result. Can anyone explain how to make a flat surface with straight edges? Many thanks! Jens Wilke, Germany

FSX Make aircraft handle worse on the ground (rudder)

Is there any configuration I can change to make aircraft's rudder less effective while on the ground at low speeds? I tried to remove animation from the steering wheel, but that didn't affect anything, other than visuals.

    Tarmac & Cement Normal

I see that no matter what you do (even if you add your COMP'd PNG with Normals/Roughness and Alpha from the workaround found on the forum), you can never truly see your normal map on the ground. It always shows some default bumpy looking asphalt thing instead. What is the best way to get nice...

MSFS20 Correct alignment of Blender objects

Hi Folks, I made a building in Blender and finally succeeded (after hours of trial and error) to get the object into MSFS. I can place it correctly on its coordinates but the terrain is not flat and now I struggle to align the building with the ground. The picture shows that the building is...

    MSFS20 Projected mesh unwanted rotation/scale

Hi, I'm trying to add custom ground polys to my scene via projected mesh but it seems not to keep its own scale and "heading" when it's projected. Each marking have their own poly and are link in blender + the origin is at 0;0;0 (as mentionned in another thread). See the pic: Green: Non...

P3D v4 PBR Decal order, disappearing layers based on zbias.

Intriguing issue here. TLDR; GP layers with PBR disappear based on zbias values. I have a GP (processed through the GP Wizard of MCX and placed via SODE as an MDL) with 3 groups of layers: A satellite image base layer. (Zbias 0) A PBR layer overlay for conrete tile/asphalt areas. (Zbias 4) A...

    WED Coordinates in MCX

Hi all, I'm trying to accurately place my ground objects into P3D, my method at the moment is using WED (X-Plane tool) to accurately place it & then obtain the Lat & Lon coordinates. However, inputting those coordinates into the MCX ground wizard doesn't align it the same as it was in WED. I...

FSX How can I make "Physical" objects?

Hello, I want to know how to make a real "Physical" object for FSX, that is actually there and where the airctaft can go over and NOT trough. I want to make a runway that way, so the aircraft actually rolls over it. Because if I use custom Ground Polygons, I have problems because the Runway...

P3D v3 [SOLVED] ADE does not compile GP with specular textures. (or bump)

So the manual says include appropriately named textures as _bump, _detail and _spec in your textures folder of ADE and the P3D compiler will automatically include them in the material settings of your compiled GP BGL, but I have tested this on 2 different material templates and 2 different...

Detail texture replaces texture it's supposed to enhance.

Unless I completely misunderstand detail textures, they're suppose to add detail when zoomed up close but leave the texture looking mostly unchanged when viewed at a distance. No matter what I try, any detail texture I add to my ground polygon completeley replaces the original. This is the...

Wrong Season Loads on Ground Poly

I used MCX to add seasons to my Ground Poly. But whenever I reopen the BGL and set BGL_ZULU_DAY to anywhere between 335 and 31, instead of Fall textures, Winter is loaded. Same thing happens in sim. All other seasons work fine. Any ideas?

FSX - AI aircraft ground steering

Hi, all I have a plane, my own creation, that flies just fine. It is a tail dragger and it steers on the ground just fine, too. But I made an AI traffic for it, and it doesn't steer well on the ground at all, curves way too wide. Following a tip that I don't know where I found, I used FSEdit...

Hiring Texture Artist for photorealistic work on Airport/Ground Polygons

Requirements: - Create HD photorealistic textures for objects and ground polygons of small to medium sized (mostly Caribbean) airports (mostly from close up photographs, sometimes hand-made). - Ground polygons need to be high resolution with specular, reflection, dirt, skid marks, etc. -...

FSX [SOLVED] How to create the ground?

Hi Everyone, I created the ground of my airport in Blender. You can see this "Mesh" in MCX here: http://bit.ly/2fG4GKY Later on I imported it as a Library Object into ADE and then I saw that the Mesh was flickering in FSX. It looked like on this thread...

FSX Ground Shine mdl layer not aligned with fs2002 style poly

Hi, Please forgive me if this has been answered. I have done my reading and still find an answer to it in detail. I have decided to go with the FSX gmax mdl ontop of the fs2002 style poly for the sun shine on the tarmac look which i think looks really incredible! however the layer on top does...
