FSXA 3DS Max 2012 64Bit

Hi there,
I've got a new Notebook, as well as 3DS Max 2012 x64 bit. I want to install the FSX SDK plugins. However, in the help file , the instructions are for 3ds Max 7,9. Does anyone know if I can use the x64 bit version with these plugins? and if so, how do I add them?
Also, are the plugins good for aircraft creation, or only scenery?

Cheers,

Jakes

Hi Jakes, I found no way to make my 64bit version of 3dsmax 2012 work for fs. I DID, however, get the 32 bit version to work by downloading the prepar3d sdk. right now, the lockheed prepar3d site seems to be down. I hope that's temporary, because I don't know of another way for you to use your version of 3dsmax.

BTW, I was able to just load both 32bit and 64 bit version from the same dvd. Even though I order the 64bit version, both were available on the dvd. I use the 64 bit version for everything except fsx, and the 32 bit version just for fsx.

Thanks, appreciate the answer. I guess I will stick to Gmax then, as it can export to FS9 as well. I know it is limited, but I would like to have my models work on both. Was just wondering.
Thanks again

The exporter for Max is a 32-bit program and won't work with 64-bit versions of Max. I'm pretty sure the same is true of the P3D exporter.

If I was building for FS9 I'd use Max to build and map the model, then BFF to Gmax for the animations and finishing off. Not to use those lovely modelling, mapping and texture baking tools in Max seems a pity to me.

I guess it depends on how you purchased max, I ordered a dvd of 64bit max, but when I discovered the above, I found I also had the 32 bit version exe on the same dvd, and was able to install the 32bit alongside the 64 bit with no problem. Now I can use one version of max for fs and a different version for everything else.
