3DS Max 'Extend Borders' tool

I just finished watching some brilliant Arrimus 3D videos and one is about this amazing tool he uses. He shows how to set it up, etc. I googled it and found it immediately.

Google; Raccoon Tools Extend Borders

This gives you a folder and a Macroscript. Drop the folder into the Scripts folder in Max, and the Macroscript goes in your Macros folder.

They say in the ReadMe to drop the Macroscript into your UserMacros folder in Max in Max 2014, but I didnt have that, I have Macros folder in my 2014.

Turn off Max, boot it back up, the tool is there.

He uses Control-Alt-E for shortcut of this tool.

This will be brilliant on windows the next time. This stops 'distortion' that max has when you do beveled, smooth inner windows that are curved.

Video;

When you go to setup your keyboard shortcut, open Customize/User Interface/Categories/Raccoon Tools/Extend Borders... Control-Shift-E.

And another... 'Regularize Edge Loop' tool.

I used Alt-Shift-D for the short cut per Arrimus.

I could have really used these tools earlier today, lol..

One learns so much from YouTube..

thanks I see more interesting the regularizer edge tool. what about "Rapid tools" scripts.
Something I discovered recently is the usefullness of the "Quad menú" edition to get the more suitable tools at hand. it's something I haven't noticed. in a software with hundreds of tools and buttons. it's really practical and this after some years with 3ds max.

It should be in the enu folder: c:\user/username/appdata/local/autodesk/...etc etc. found it by chance.
but if it work anyway, left all as it is.

Ah so... Well, mine worked in this folder. Thanks Tejal.

Thanks Tejal. I found them and installed them, but now I cannot find them in Max. I know its in there as I could find them in the Customization center, but cannot find them to use them.

Do you know how to add the folder to the top menu bar? I looked everywhere.

No idea. Don't know how he get those tools at the top. An investigation must be in course, I haven't download it yet but I think it deserve a look to this scripts.
Must be something to add tools to the top menú.
Edit: I know that I can créate a new customized menú. just click in "new" ,add name, and search for the new menú in the dialogue box, and add the tools just draggin from the left panel, but don't know if could be the same.

Hey Tejal, yes, I found that route also. Created a mini menu box, can turn it off, then bring it back up by right clicking Menu main toolbar and checking my new menu toolbar.

Rapid Tools are intended to be used from hotkeys or user-made toolbars. I haven't set this up yet myself but found the Extend Borders tool in Max while looking this up - I thought I'd seen this before! Thinking about it, I'm sure it was in a post by SixGhost somewhere before house moving and extending filled my free time.

One day I have to look seriously at the customization of menus, quad menus, etc etc. make the life much more easier

Edit: I found this in the Scripspot website about Raid Tool

......
Problem Installing

From the videos this script looks awesome. I went to your website and downloaded the "rapidToolsInstaller_v1.12" file correctly. I installed the mzp and it says "Please restart 3dsmax to take effect" but I cant find it anywhere after the restart. It should be on the top menu bar as a drop down but its not there.

This is what I did,
1) Download rapidToolsInstaller_v1.12
2) Run and install .mpz file
3) Restart 3dsmax

Am I missing a step? I would really like to try this wonderful script. Thanks!

...Menu Bar

Go to Customize menu, and search for the rapidTools category...

Inside there, you can find a script, called "rapidTooolsMenuGenerator"

That is the script which can create that top menu for you.

Thanks Bernardo, much obliged. Just to clarify, .mzp files are MaxScript zip files: open/run them in 3ds Max.

right, a kind of select and drag into the viewport, I have installed Racoon Scripts (extended borders) in Scripts folder and regularize edge tool in userscripts folder. it seem it's how this work. we must to take into account also the "usermacros" folder and the "scripts" folder in the C:\... enu folder.it's said that enu folder is where the configurations are but don't know what mean those scripts folder there.
By the way how to download the rapidTools scripts ?. a Little confusing I see just the paypal account for registering and donation

They want you to "register" which is free, then you get the download link. The link is also emailed to you.

Yep, Tom is on it. There is now price, only the download. Fill that in, then you see the link when you hit enter. He must have had it as payware then changed it to freeware.
