• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

_Problems upgrading to and using ADE_v1-76 (correction)

I recently (02/05) upgraded ADE from v1.70 to 1.76. Install seemed to go alright, except it would not accept the demo pro-key. I ran the ADE enviro checker ‭& it could not find ADE. ( ADE_check.jpg & report attached.)

Had to set the path manually to get ADE recognized & connect to FSX. I tried three (3) separate installs, even using the recommended install location; all with the same results. It would not accept the ade pro-key.

Was unable to import the info from v1.70 into v1.78. Everything had to be transferred manually.

I finally got it to work & planned to finish an old project that I started back in 2019. The KMDT a/p upgrade by Matt Derr. This included the new terminal, tower and hangars (all very well done). Still a newbie at this.

Since the area was small & crowded, I expanded (widened) the a/p boundaries out to the river & over to the RR tracks.
1-airport_boundary.jpgThis allowed for expanding the gates, taxiways & parking spaces for planes. It even gave me room to include the PANG & FedEX areas.

The a/p roads were roughly laid out & were to be tied into the local scenery after most of the areas were finished. But I ran into a big snag.

Where the a/p access roads are supposed to connect to the highway there was a single house in the way. 2-KMDT_old _hiway access.jpgSometime after expanding the a/p boundaries, don't know when they popped up, two extra houses appeared;3-blocking_houses.jpgtotally blocking the highway connection area.

I tried excluding the houses & got the original house removed. Nothing happened with the two extra houses. Upon re-entering the sim, the original house re-appeared. Nothing would remove any of the houses after that. (extra houses appear doubled ??).

If someone could show me how to get rid of the houses & get ADE to accept the pro-key, it would be greatly appreciated.

Did some more research & found the the two extra houses are indeed an autogen double. By loading the a/p without the CVX file the double houses are not generated. But, still cannot get get any of the houses excluded. Suggestions anyone ???

Pure guesswork ... maybe there's another scenery lurking somewhere which has a higher priority than the files you are generating.
I have a "_Development" folder right at the top of my Scenery Library so anything I make will (or at least should) over-write anything below it.
Having (hopefully) successfully completed what I wanted to achieve, my new files are then transferred to their "proper place".
Any anomalies that then show up are almost certainly down to layering issues and can be dealt with as such.
An alternative approach can be to have a "sandbox" default installation which is used solely for testing developed or redeveloped scenery ... these are then removed once completed so's the installation is "pristine" for the next project.
Again, if sceneries that are developed and work "properly" in a sandbox mis-behave when transferred to my main installation, I can be reasonably confident there's something else causing the problem.
Good luck :)

Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I basically do the same thing, mine is labelled archive.

The problem with the houses is; they are "outside of the airport boundary". The single house was always there, but I wasn't ready to work on it at the time. Now I am at the point to build & connect the roads. This is when I noticed the extra houses blocking the way. As it was a few years ago, since I worked on this, I don't recall if the extra houses were there or not.

I used the RR tracks to maintain simplicity. The A/P access roads are bridged over the railroad tracks so this would add to the immersion factor without any major scenery re-design.

Removing my CVX layer reveals the previous authors CVX layer as evidenced by the asphalt roads in the second pic. The part that confuses me is the extra houses, which appear like a duplicated double. They weren't there before & cannot figure out where they came from.

I have tried the exclude rectangle & a number of different autogen poly excludes; nothing seems to work.

I was hoping one of the devs would be able to point me in the right direction.
