• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,
Can I use ADE to add marshaller to some of my airport gates? Apologies if I did not research this enough but any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Peter

Try look for object library search in AVSIM library "people" or "Crew(s)" I think. I saw crew marshaller there.

Thanks Stuart,
looked to no avail.
I am thinking about an active marshaller giving signals to turn and to stop at the gate. Have downloaded it with some Italian airport sceneries and adds realism to airports.
Wandered if ADD can somehow help with this?

Peter, if an Italian airport scenery has an air marshall, it is only the appearance of one, it is an animated model that appears to direct traffic. I know this because I have been working off and on for several years with a very well known developer to create a ground service add-on that includes an air marshall, wing walker, etc, that operate with greater fidelity and interactivity than this product.

The code, modelling and mechanics are quite involved, much more so than any scenery, so the return on investment for adding a marshaller and attempting remain at a competitive price point would seem dismal.
If you are still of the belief that a complete scenery contains an interactively functioning air marshall, please provide a link and I will look into it, thanks.

Hi Rick,
many thanks for your comprehensive explanation. I noticed the marhaller at Linate 2004 (Milan) freeware airport made by ISD and obtained from AVSIM or Flightsim. The picture is attached. As you mentioned, it is an animated model (bit toyish) giving the correct directional signals and then stops the aircraft. I can obviously do without it but somehow it adds reality to end of the taxi run. The animation must be sensing aircraft position to give correct signals (hold aircraft on center line and stop it when on gate). Quite interesting but see your point about the price issue.
Many thanks again.

Fascinating stuff, I think Gunther nailed it. I suspect the author substituted a two dimensional panel for the docking aid and used the same trigger points to substitute different textures representing human motion. Perhaps he actually used a model with animations. It appears you could adapt the system for your own use, the only restriction I saw was against commercial distribution.

At LIML is a bgl named LIML_MA.bgl containing marshaller and electric posts (just drop it into MCX!)

Many thanks guys,
much appreciate your responses. And Guenther I will definitely try the VGDS link.
I am afraid I do not know what you mean by: (just drop it into MCX!). Perhaps a trivial question. Please let me know.
Many thanks again.

MCX (Model Converter X) you open the mcx a choose import and the object in this case LIML_MA.BGL after do that the program will show you a panel and you select image_complex and click next.
