• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi guys, what are the implications of building a fitiuous airport, adding nav aids etc and logging on to vatsim at that location.
It might seem a dull question, but I would hate to do it and incur the wrath of vatsim.

Richard.

Richard, you should ask this question on the VATSIM forum. Unless you are creating your fictional airport within a busy airspace (eg. LAS, LAX, ORD, etc), I don't think it would matter as long as you follow the standard VATSIM procedures on obtaining ATC clearances and flying. You obviously won't be able to get ATC vectors to land if you are flying IFR.

There are those on VATSIM that may not appreciate you using a fake airport because they want to make VATSIM as close to reality as possible.

Like I said, it's best to ask this question over at VATSIM.

Vatsim are okay with farm strip flying (VatUK, anyhow), so I imagine they'd see another unknown strip in the same light, ie, so long as you declare where it is in reference to a known place in the remarks section of your flight plan.

I'd also suggest you give your field/pond/whatever a faux ICAO code along the same lines as Gerry Winskill's farm strips, and obviously you need to allocate a code that doesn't already exist.

Finally, your field won't appear in ServInfo, unless you create and distribute an entry for that. There may be instructions for that on the Vatsim forum, or possibly ServInfo has its own forum
