• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Since Jon may be otherwise occupied, I am posting this update here as well as sending it to him.

It now properly handles poly edits. There is no change yet as far as suppression of autogen is concerned.

Update made to ADE with the 0.88 GP library

Don,

Could you please look at the attached?

There are three "hold-short" lines each of width 1 metre but they all display differently in FSX.

Sorry Don, this is with 0.0.89 :o

You're going to have to be more specific, George. Without knowing what I'm supposed to look for, they all look fine to me.

If I had seen that, I'd certainly have noticed. Looks like you may have an old GP .bgl file still in the scenery folder or in some other active scenery folder.

Don

Sorry for that, you are absolutely correct, there was another GP bgl in that directory :o

Could you now please change the width of each of them to 5 metres without changing anything else. Do you see any difference from when they were 1 metre wide?

The only way I see a difference is if I reselect the texture and line type when I change the width.

It will be fixed in the next release.

Hi,

Have been away for a while and updated ADE to the latest version with gp 0.0.88.
Went back to NSTU and tried to flip the yellow chevrons polyline along the runway horizontally.
To my surprise I unfortunately had to deal with a couple of unwanted results:
- flipping caused the scaled line to become completely unscaled;
- flipping back to what it was before restored the scaling;
- there is no indication anywhere to what degree I had the scaling done and therefore had to repeat the scaling by trial and error until I had it right again.
Have I missed something that was mentioned in an updated manual in the meantime?

Roby, as usual, a picture is worth 1000 words - or rather, in this case, 1000 words does not replace a picture.

I am unable to reproduce your first issue. However, while trying to reproduce the second, I did manage to force some sort of rescale. But, it's not repeatable, so it must be due to some uninitialized variable. I'll keep looking for it.

there is no indication anywhere to what degree I had the scaling done
The amount of rescaling is (and has been for some time now has been) displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the panel.

I've discovered why I can intermittently (I thought) reproduce your problem.

It was because I don't have your lines_def file.

You should check that your lines_def file contains a definition for this texture pattern.

Don

Hi Don,

No, it did not:(. The ADE_gp update deleted them.
Still, I am now at a loss what to do.
I created a texture for the chevrons a while ago of the correct dimensions to have the width, the length and the spacing of the chevrons more or less correct and drew a gp line that was more or less to my satisfaction. It did not need any line def because its dimensions were already defined (I think but I am no longer sure). It was a straight line so I did not need to do any scaling, just some rotating.
Now all this does not seem to work any longer.
Do I have to start all over again and rethink what kind of new logic you implemented in the updates?
As for the scaling, I meant that, once you have scaled an object and want to edit it and change the scaling again, you can nowhere see what you have done before because the program does not give you that information.
I copied a previously made gp-line and flipped it and this is what I get with a line_def:
uzov.jpg

and without a line_def:
50no.jpg

As you can see, I am at a loss to understand what happened. Please also notice that I managed to get it right in previously made chevrons (the ones of the correct dimenesions).
Maybe you need to include some examples of how to do things in your manual for dummies like me because I no longer manage to grasp it:o :(.

Roby, a line always needs a linesdef.txt entry if you want it to be straight.

Now that I know there was no lines_def entry, I can tell you that it wasn't the flip that caused your problem. Any edit would have resulted in a similar situation.

Re the changed scale on copy, that too is almost certainly a consequence of the missing entries.

The problem of the lines_def and texture_def files being overwritten by the update received considerable discussion while you were away. A solution has been implemented. Unfortunately, you'll have to restore any missing entries manually.

While the manual is quite clear about the need for texture_def and Lines_def entries, I can appreciate that in your situation (you didn't know they were missing), you might not have "connected the dots". As you suggest, I will add a note to the manual advising that when lines don't display as expected, to check those entries.
