• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AI Aircraft disappears at Pushback

I have a problem with an FSX AI flight compiled with TrafficDataBaseBuilder. The flight compiles without errors and the AI flight can be seen in FSX using Traffic Explorer. Here's the problem. When the Departure time is met the Aircraft goes from the Sleep state to FlightPlan, PreFlight and then Pushback, but as soon as pushback begins the aircraft disappears from FSX and the flight is removed from Traffic Explorer. I don't know if the problem is with the aircraft or with the departure airport. I've checked the airport using ADE for FSX and run the Fault Finder but no problems are found and I can't find any problems in the aircraft.cfg file. Any ideas?

Hi Folks

Dave -
Previously had same issue.

Traced to faulty contact points/MOI.

Try setting time to watch their arrival,
track them in,
and on landing, you'll likely also see them disappear.

Also, TDBB has some funny rules you must follow. Like airports must be 10 miles apart, and there must be two more parking spots of your plans type than plans of that type in the plan (to name two that are not in the SDK). I find it much easier to use AIFP.

Couple of questions,
just trying to expand my knowledge of AI - :D

If the above were applicable,
would the AI even appear, before attempting pushback ?

Are those rules specific to TDBB ?

If not -

re: 10 miles apart -
May explain issue I'd had with 'relatively local' offshore platforms.

re: Parking Spots -
Destination airport doesn't even need to exist,
only requires destination's ICAO and coords.

Any other unmentioned rules would be appreciated. :D

TIA

I use TTools and AIFP ;) However, the usual reason for an AI aircraft to disappear on push-back is that there is no taxiway connection to the runway centre-line.

Hi Folks

Cheers George
I hadn't been aware that
"no taxiway connection to the runway centre-line"
would also cause this.

Is that -
- 'any' break along that path, causes intantaneous AI disappearal ?
or -
- on AI arrival at that gap, causes AI disappearal ?

Anything else cause similar ?

Need a wiki article detailing AI troubleshooting. :D

George gives the most common reason for planes dissapearing at pushback. I used to get caught by not having a center line at all (doh).
Any break can cause problems

When I got FSX, the only software I could find to write FPs was an old version of Aisort. That program used TDBB. Those two rules and having enough time between landing and departure, were vital. If you have 6 737s in your FP then you had to have 8 737 parking spots.

Just much easier to use AIFP, which is not bound by TDBB.
