• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AIFP 3413 and FS2004 error message

aifp error.jpg

Have started getting this error message on start up of AIFP3413. Click the OK button and the message goes and I get a "generating airport database" message. Click "abort" and THAT goes then AIFP seems to work OK apart from the - very useful- "view A/C" feature doesn't work. The above message suggests the airport.dat file has a problem but can anyone tell me what?

Please update to AIFP 3..4.1..6 and give it another try
Thanks, yes, 3.4.1.6 works fine. I only use AIFP for FS2004 so I don't always install the latest version as I assume the updates are more for P3D and MSFS. I'm from the "if it works OK don't fix it" school of thought. Just wondered why AIFP 3.4.1.3 suddenly started having tantrums when it's been used almost every day without a problem since I installed last month. Out of interest, when was the "view AC image" feature introduced? It's great for repainting!

I'm also a fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". But, sometimes, things get broken in the name of "progress" - especially when one or more existing functions need to be totally reworked to accommodate a new release of Flightsim - as was the case twice in the past six months.

Due to the workload involved, I cannot support other than the latest general release. So, should you report a problem in an older release, my response is most likely to be (as it was in this case) a suggestion that you update to the latest general release.

I can think of no reason why every current user of AIFP should not automatically update to each new general release. If you are hesitant, at least take a look at
the updated Version History which accompanies every release of AIFP which identifies, sometime cryptically, the changes in that release.

The "view AC Image" feature was introduced about 1 year ago.
