• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Air Wrench Help ?

Hi Folks,

Anyone familiar with the use of Air Wrench ??? Working my way through my first task - introducing inertia to the JF Duchess FDE as it seemed to have none out of the box...

I'm a newb at this...

While I've figured out quite a few things with Air Wrench so far - including adding the inertia I wanted - I have now made a bunch of changes and I can't seem to save them because of an error I get on the first screen... Previously - I could type a lower number in the red field and it would then allow me to save it - I can't seem to do that anymore with my recent round of changes...

Any ideas on which values I should be looking at to correct this error ???

On the left is says your limit is 182.1 and whatever changes you've made exceed that value. I believe the 182.1 is in the aircraft.cfg file.

Hi...

Thanks for the tip - I think I have a handle on this issue at least... I believe the premise behind Air Wrench is that it actually calculates appropriate values based on the data input - makes it a little easier for those of us without aeronautical engineering degrees... I started reducing prop efficiency - so - it wouldn't be able to fly faster than it should... While I'm not sure that I'm doing this correctly - it did allow me to reduce that speed and save the file...

Now I'm trying to figure out why the plane seems to fly well behind the power curve when flying at approach speed... Instead of a level - or slight pitch down on approach - it's a slight pitch up and the plane sinks like a rock unless I add massive amounts of power... It seems like the wing needs more lift... I've tried modifying a couple air files - and - I get similar results... I just can't seem to put my finger on the parameters that affect lift in Air Wrench...

I've got the real POH from the plane so I have most of the real world values I need at my disposal...

Regards,
Scott

Not sure if this will help, but AirWrench doesn't modify existing .air files, it writes a brand new one each time you save, according to its calculations on your data. Some details may be missing ...
