• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aircraft Do Not Show up

I've looked maybe not close enough but I looked.

I use AI Flight Planner to change FS9 flightplans to FSX.

Most of the time the aircraft show up at the desired airport.

I've setup Offutt AFB, (KOFF) to park 14 RC EC-135 Aircraft.

All aircraft, show when selected individually, in the select aircraft.

All the spots are setup with AI Aircraft Editor, each spot is correctly marked for the aircraft, 24M for size, E135 or R135 for parking type.

I even went so far as to make a Test flightplans for 32 KC-135, Aircraft (to many I know). they didn't show up.

I tried the same flightplans for Ellsworth AFB. (KRCA)

I checked the Traffic file, buy Decompiled the which checked out.One Airport, one Aircraft and 32 Plans.

Checking all the other traffic files, they all working fine. All Aircraft are where they should be.

Tried Test Flight for differant Airfield, all aircraft showed up.

I know it something small but, I'm a a loss as to what.

Have you followed the troubleshooting procedure at the end of the User Manual or as posted on the support website?

Don

I knew I would forget something.

Thanks for reminding me.

Checked Trouble Shooting, everything it suggests is done, Aircraft Still don't show.

By changing the Base the Aircraft Show Up.

When you say they don't show up, do you mean they:
  • don't land, taxi and park,
  • don't approach
  • don't spawn for takeoff
  • aren't shown in Traffic Toolbox Explorer.
  • something
else?

Typically, if just one base/airport is affected, that would point to something wrong at that airport or incorrect airport data in the traffic file.

Don

They Don't Park,Taxi,Takeoff,Land or anything, they don't become visiable at all.

I just got thru redoing the default KOFF, reconfigered with the parking spots, still no aircraft.

I loaded the one form FS9 that works, saved it to FSX, compiled it, still no aircraft.

I reset setting to default, then reset to previous settings that work everywhere else, no aircraft.

I agree there has to be something wrong, What?

But, your initial post said they show up most of the time. As well, you didn't mention whether or not they are listed by the Traffic Toolbox Explorer.

If this were an AIFP problem, I'd expect more people to be affected. So, you should be looking for something specific on your system.

You mentioned earlier that you had converted the flight plan from FS9 to FSX. Did you get rid of the old FS9 version? FS9 and FSX traffic files don't play well together.

Did you size you parking spots correctly for FSX? The FSX calculation differs from FS9.

If none of this helps, please zip up:
  • the traffic file,
  • the aircraft.cfg file, and
  • the AFCAD (.bgl) for the modified airport
and send them to me.

Don

There is nothing wrong with your airport or traffic. Except you may have an incorrect height in the airports.txt file.

Did you remember to set the "Airline" traffic to 100%?

However, you have a major problem with your AFD file. You have used drive-through parking without using the plumbing method. This means that a taxiing aircraft may ghost through a parked aircraft:

Like George said. (Thanks, George)

Otherwise, the file set works fine on my system (with airline traffic set to 100%). But, it does seem a bit unusual that the activity level of all FPs is set to 100% - though so long as your traffic settings match, there's nothing wrong with doing that.

Several further observations:
  • The ETA for many (perhaps all) FPs has been overridden. This will have no effect since, once in the final sector (which your a/c never leave), the flight parameters in the .air and .cfg files take over.
  • You have far more flights programmed than your parking can accommodate. I don't know if this will become a source of difficulty or not, but it can be avoided by doubling-up some FPs, i.e., having more legs in fewer FPs.
  • Having so many a/c departing so frequently with this type of flight plan quickly leads to ATC congestion and large queues at hold-short points and elsewhere.

Regarding drive-through parking, there's a tutorial available from my CYYJ support website http://members.shaw.ca/cyyj4fs that you may find helpful - especially as regards some of FlightSims's "idiosyncrasies".

Good luck,
Don

You may wish to modify your aprons, they do not quite line up with Bing aerial photographs:

The Aircraft Settings are #1

Checking the Altitude on Google Earth Offutt AFB is 973 feet or 296.6 meters.

The setting I had on FSX was 1048 Feet, (which is the upper level ot the base), or 319.4 meters. #2+#2A

When I set the FS field Altitude to what Google says I get this #3

Resetting Altitude didn't show any aircraft.

You must have another AFD file active.

Using your files I do not see a dip in the ground and all AI aircraft show, take-off and land.

If you want to use this altitude, you'll have to change the elevation of the flatten as well. But, this has nothing to do with the problem, since when the file set was operating (normally) on my system, the original elevations were in effect.

We can see from your last attachment that the aircraft "works". But, how did you get that a/c to appear and why is it sitting off the taxiway. From a comparison of your AFCAD against the stock AFCAD, the a/c appears to be on the southern-most taxiway of the stock airport - reinforcing what George suggested a moment ago (while I was composing this).

Either that or the old FS9 traffic file is still lurking somewhere.

Don

I'm not sure about that Don, it looks like a user aircraft to me.
I agree, but its presence would seem to exonerate the aircraft files.

What I think is particularly relevant is its location, which, from a comparison of the newly-developed AFCAD and the stock AFCAD, seems to place it on a taxiway of the stock airport. As well, there are some unusual artifacts in one of his screenies that seem out of place, which would seem to support your suggestion that there's another AFD active - especially since you and I, both, have succesfully run the AI scenario.

Bill, can you post a shot of Traffic Toolbox Explorer?

You will have to tell me where it is.

Please refer to the FSX SDK, Environment Kit, Traffic Toolbox.

How do I tell if there is a second airfield at this location?
A couple of things you could try:
  • disable in the Scenery Library the scenery folder that contains your modified airport and see if something other than the stock airport appears in its place, or
  • disable everything in your Scenery Library except the folder containing your modified airport - after confirming that the KOFF afcad is not duplicated in that folder - and see if your AI appears.
But, don't forget to check for a FS9 traffic file first as I sufgested a while back.

Disconnected both FS9 and FSX by renaming scenery1.

Loaded default KOFF added 5 Mil Cargo parking spots, saved and compiled KOFF,Started FSX, loaded Offutt test, no aircraft.

Not sure what this was meant to accomplish. What I asked you to do was disable a Scenery Library item and see what happened.

Incidentally, what was the result with Traffic Toolbax Explorer.
