• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum

This is probably going to make a lot of you scenery experts laugh here, but could anybody exlain how i can change the white lighting at an aiports apron, to that of an Amber colour.

Many thanks

David

Hi David,

What kind of lighting do you mean? And are you talking about the default scenery or an addon scenery you are working on?

Sorry should have mentioned. It is The add-on Durham Tees Valley. The lighting type is unknown by me, but it is from lamposts at the apron. Currently they provide flood lighting, and i was just wanting to change the colour it provides at ground level, however after viewing some screenies i think i would like to adopt less of a hard white light and go for a subtle amber glow around the base of the pole. At the moment, on approach i have found that from aprox 10 miles out the white lighting is too visible.

The airport scenery is available here

Kind regards
David

If you showed us a screenshot of the lights it would be easier. ;)

It's always a problem to change a scenery. First you never know exactly, how the creator did it and second he sure had his reasons to do it the way he did.
But if you want to do it you'll have to take a look if the lighting is done with fx (that would be pretty easy to change) or with ground-textures (more difficult) or by using bgl-commands. In that case: forget it. ;)

How will i know how the lighting has been created?

I have attached a couple of night pics to aid your diagnosis

Many thanks
David

OK, in that case they simply used night-textures. You'll find them in the texture-folder of the scenery. But it would be pretty tough to make them look more realistic. For me, I like them as they are. ;)

Thanks for your advise. Is there anyway of changing the lighting altogether. I really want a more amber/ orange colour. I can live with the fact that on approach the dominant light feature is at the apron.

David

You can't do this with one click. I assume the apron consists of a couple of textures. You'll have to rework them all of course.
