• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Airport runways how to?

Hi guys, I have been using sbuilderx to lay down photo scenery in my fsx and its all going quite well, But when i get to a spot where there is an airport and lay down the photo scenery over it ,alot of times the photo scenery runways and taxiways etc.. dont line up with the default runways and you can see the edges of the photo runways sticking out the sides of the default runways, doesnt look to great. im thinking i would like to leave the default runways in place and get rid of the photo runways taxiways cover them with grass or something else i dont know. the reason i would like to leave the default runways is that they look nice and clear when you get right down on them when landing, as the photo scenery gets blurry as you get close to it, anyway what do you guys do for this situation, and what are the processes used any help would be great
thanks Best regards Tom.

Hi Tom,

One option would be to use a tool like ADE or FSX Planner to alter the airport. You can change the default taxiways and the parameters of the runway if needed, so that they match better with your photo scenery.

Another option would be to alter the photo like you said so that the differences are less visible, but I think in general that will give a less realistic result.

Hi Arno

Hi there Arno, thanks for the info,i was just trying to find the easiest way to do this, i have never used the ADE,Or fsx planner, which one is easiest to use and understand, and where do you get them at, is there tutorials for them, ive just began to learn the sbuilderx program but all i really know how to do with it is to lay down photo scenery and make watermasks with it so far, i know even it has more capabilities but i have not got that far with it yet, thanks again for the help,
Best regards,Tom

You might want to have a look at the ADE forum here, it will direct you to the current release version of ADE. I would recommend using this and move/resize the default runway/taxiway/aprons to cover your photo. I have a 15cm photo I am working on and I left the shoulders on the photo show. I think it looks pretty good. In some cases the taxiway tapers in a way I can't duplicate using the ADE edits. If you want, you can use aprons on ADE to correct for that, or to provide contrast color (such as tarmac apron under asphalt taxiway).

Hi Scott

Hey Scott, thanks for the advice i will give that a try, just seems when you learn one program, you need to learn another, after making photo scenery i give credit to all those that have tryed it.
