• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi: I seem to have a problem...I am running the latest version of ADE with P3dV4.3...I am doing alright designing and compiling and saving my airports...Problem is, they never show up! I continue to get just the stock P3d airports...I thought I had everything set up right...What could I be doing wrong? Thanks for your advice!

Steve

If you look under Settings->Options and then the Project Tab, right under the Compile groupbox, you can see where the files are going. You will also see that in the Compile groupbox that you can choose where you want the files to go.

You need to put them into an active scenery folder in P3D

H:\MSFS\FS Design Tools\Airport Design Editor 175\P34\Projects

This is where mine seem to be going...Should I create a different directory and then activate it in Scenery Library?

You saved it in there but have you compiled it and if, where? And do you have ADE version 1.76 because that is the one you need for P3Dv4. And then you also have to make sure that you use the correct compilers (i.e.not the FSX ones).

If your compiled BGL files are going into the Projects folder then you are right - you must put them into an active scenery folder.

Three choices:

1. Place into the Addon Scenery/scenery folder (assuming the Addon Scenery layer is active in the Scenery Library) - easy, but not a good spot for complex airports with many BGL files and textures.
2. Place into a new folder's scenery subfolder and activate that. A nice idea to keep ADE airports away from the downloaded stuff you may have in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder, but again not good for complex airports.
3. Place into a new folder's scenery subfolder with files only for that airport. A good idea if it is a complex airport with many BGL and texture files. When modifying such an airport that you downloaded/bought, placing the new ADE file in this folder (and moving the original airport BGL file into the parent folder for safekeeping) is a good practice, since it eases priority issues - if this layer is high in the Scenery Library list, all the files (including the new ADE file) will have priority over other potential duplicate airport files located in lower scenery layers.

Hope this helps,
