• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Does anyone know anything about Microsofts involvment with the upcoming reality show "American Top Gun "? Specificaly, I have heard that there is an "American Top Gun" add on for FSX that is basicaly an L-39 simulator. Being an huge L-39 fan (I work on them for a living) I would be very interested in this. I have yet to find anything on it at FSinsider.com

You've been cheated.
Your teachers in school have robbed you of a real education...

Knowledge doesn't consist of knowing stuff; true knowledge is knowing how to find what you want as you need it.

In other words, you were never taught how to do research... :(

Open a browser window and type these few words into the search box at:
http://google.com

FSX Top Gun Challenge

The fifth entry returned is what you are seeking:

http://www.fsinsider.com/partnerships/atg/Pages/default.aspx

The first four entries are to other sites where more information is available.

If you are still in school, politely demand that your teachers teach the students how to conduct research. :teacher:

If you are out of school, write to the school and demand a refund! :rotfl:

It would seem to me that asking other people on a number of different forums would pretty much be the same thing, i.e. research. For your info, the link you specified is the same link that the American Top Gun web site gives. It refers to a Top Gun online simulator using an F-18, which isn't what I am looking for. I was told by a co-worker who knows someone involved with the production of the ATG reality show (actualy I know him myself) that there is supposedly an ATG add on for FSX, whether an actual add on or just an aircraft I don't know. At any rate, the add on aircraft is supposedly an L-39 since that is what the reality show was originaly going to use although now I am not sure what they will use.
But I digress. Back to the issue at hand. Why would you consider me uneducated because I asked about something on a forum? As you so eloquently put it, knowledge isn't knowing stuff, it's knowing where to find stuff. And I did google it BTW. I wasn't happy with the answer so I thought I could find a better answer here. Obviously I was mistaken.

I was NOT taking a dig at you, although you took it that way.

I WAS taking a dig at the so-called modern educational system that seems to have lost its focus and rasion d'etre.

I apologize if my meaning was unclear to you. There was no intent to be offensive. I try to write simple, clear, unambiguous prose.

It would seem to me that asking other people on a number of different forums would pretty much be the same thing, i.e. research.

To some degree it might be considered such, if what you receive in return are facts; simply learning other people's opinons and repeating it is not education. That's bulimia. :rotfl:

See here for information on the FSX version of the L-39 from Lotus. There is no apparent connection between this project and the FSX Top Gun Challenge.

Yes I took it that way, my bad and my apologies. Anyway, we're cool. I did find the Lotus one right after I posted over on SOH. It's by a guy from Vancouver BC called Lotus. It doesn't have anything to do with the ATG stuff. It is a very nice model, extremely detailed and should be out in a couple weeks. It will be payware but he spent well over a year building it and it will be worth it. I know at least a few of our customers will want one.
As for the ATG stuff, one of our customers is involved in the reality show project with Dale Snodgrass and he was pretty sure that there will be an ATG L-39 project for FSX in the works soon, if not already.
Now for a lilttle more "research" LOL. Ever heard of a company or brand or sim called "Mr. Sim"? This Austrailian guy who is one of our customers says that was one of the L-39 "sims" that was recommended to him when he was looking for an L-39 simulator to use when he goes back down under (his airplane stays here). I'll have you know that I did google this first LOL but didn't find anything useful.
