• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ATC tool

Hi everybody,

for the former FS versions there were some ATC Add-ons available that more or less enhanced ATC within FS. Some of these tools were quite advanced, but none of them really convinced me (as a former ATC Controller) as they still didn't show the real world (european) ATC environment with enough detail and realism. Also for MSFS there is no such tool at all available yet. So I am dreaming since long ago to participate in the development of a realistic and immersive ATC tool, to make it available for the broad community and to use it also for my own flights ;-). The problem is, that I do have detailed and deep insights into ATC matters and have clear vision of how the tool should look like and behave like, but I sadly don't have programming / development skills at all (despite trying it sometimes).

So my question is: Is there anyone out there having the necessary programming skills (or willing to learn them) and having interest in this topic and we might join for this project? I could share my ideas and provide my knowledge and help with some other duties, and you could do the coding. Bringing out the first ATC software for MSFS should be a great deal and, if everything works as imagined, it should also be released for P3D and X-Plane as a very realistic competitor to the other add-ons.

If you are interested we might do a direct chat on the project. Just contact me on PM.

Thanks for your time and greetings

Tobias

Pilot2ATC and PF3 both are already compatible with MSFS. VOXATC is in development for MSFS but since VOXATC also controls and communicates with its own AI aircraft, that feature is limited by missing AI aircraft functionality in the present version of the MSFS SDK.

Hi, thanks for the reply. However those tools are quite circuitous to use and mainly focused on the US style of ATC. I am thinking of a modern tool with modern, easy interface (chosable degree of complexity from easy to pro) and besides US-style ATC also the european style of ATC as there are also many FS users from Europe.

It's probably been a while since this thread was active, but I came across it and wanted to chime in.
I actually started my own open source project a while ago called OpenSquawk — you can find it here: https://opensquawk.de

It's an AI based ATC system for MSFS and X-Plane, completely open source and free.
The goal is to make realistic ATC possible with proper phraseology, speech recognition and natural sounding controller voices.

Main features so far:
- Real time speech to text for pilot readbacks
- AI logic that interprets intent and builds the correct ATC reply
- Text to speech output with controller style voices
- SimConnect bridge app for telemetry and push to talk audio
- A web based "Classroom" for training IFR/VFR communication

Everything’s open on GitHub if you want to have a look:

If anyone here is still working on or interested in ATC related projects, I’d be happy to exchange ideas or maybe collaborate.
