• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Bandwidth Costs money, no?

Arno, I was thinking about how important your site is. When you were off line a few days ago, I missed this site. I'd say its arguably the most important web site for scenery design.

I'm able and willing to contribute, I don't have a lot of money, but enough to send some your way.

Would this help? I'm assuming you incur costs to bring us this site.

Let me know, I looked around for a donations option, but didn't see it.

Best,
Bob Bernstein

Hi Bob,

Running the site indeed costs some money, but until now it has been no problem I would say. Sometimes I get a donation and the Google ads at the top of the forum also generate a little money. These both together help to pay for the bandwidth and the remainder I pay myself. As each hobby you have costs some money this has been fine so far (as long as the cost does not increase a lot of course).

There was a PayPal donate button on the front page, but I had indeed forgotten to put it back after I updated the forum software. Thanks for reminding me of that, it is there again now.

I don't know if the bandwidth problem of this week was caused by the increased amount of visitors or because the upgrading of the software I did caused some extra traffic. I will monitor the bandwidth usage in more detail the next months and then see if we need an bigger webhosting package or not. This week I noticed the problem too late, as the reminders of the bandwidth usage were sent to an old email address I no longer use :o

Hi,

Bob, yes I saw that as well, but I think the error message says that the problem is at PayPal at the moment. I will check tomorrow to see if it is gone, if not I might have setup the button wrong :).

The PayPal link has been fixed now.
