• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

BGL files not saving

Hi Everyone

I'm finding that after editing a airport file for starting points and save the file it will not save at all. Example: I deleted all the runway starting points and created new one on some parking spot. When i onpen it again noting has changed.

What am I doing wrong?

By not saving do you mean that no Bgl file is created or that the changes you made are not showing in FSX?

You need to make sure that FSX is not running when you compile your airport. You should be sure that the Bgl file created is placed in (saved to) an active scenery folder - simplest is to use Addon Scenery\Scenery.

Also be sure that the Bgl file is created and that there are no compiler errors reported.

Hi Thanks for replying
The changes I'm making are not applying. With regard to compiling I tried that by finding the airport to edit and created an xml file and tried to compile it but no success. It simply does not find SDK and this is the error message I keep getting. http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141388

So I found anoter actual KNTU BGL file and edited it but changes I make will not save.

FSX Planner is not supported by the developer any longer and it has been some time since I looked at it. Clearly you need to make sure that it can see the Compiler. The reason you are not getting anything is that nothing is being compiled.

First make sure that you have installed the FSX SDK. This does not install with FSX itself - you have to install it from the DVDs separately.

So if you have not installed it you must. Once it is installed then you need to make sure that FSX Planner can find it. As mentioned above I do not recall how to ensure that.

If you have installed it then again you need to get FSX Planner to find it. I expect that somewhere in the settings there is an option to set the path to the SDK and the compiler.

There is a tool called Owl Tools ADE Environment Checker that can check if you have the FSX installation correct. However this is part of another Airport Design Tool - Airport Design Editor.

Hi again

That's the thing I have FSX SDK installed. So I'm not sure why its not seeing it especially when I pointing right to it.
Is there another program yourecomment that does the same job or better?

Thanks

There are currently two other main programs that do a similar job. One is AFX from Flight1. The support forum is here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum31.html This is very similar to AFCAD and is payware.

The other is Airport Design Editor (ADE). The support forum for ADE is here: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=95. ADE is freeware except for some advanced functions that are not needed for the average user.

Both are actively supported so one of these might work better for you.

Thank you very much sir.. Much appreciated.

If you are using FSX Planner on Vista,, you need to it as an Administrator every time.

Actually, that is true of nearly every program that has to access and modify files within the "protected folder areas" of the system...

...unless you modify your User Account to the "Super Administrator" level.
