So I have been working on a building with some lettering applied using transparent textures so that the underlying colour of the building renders around the lettering, rather than an approximation used as the background of the texture. using Blender 4.5 and the native exporter, I find that the material is always set to “ opaque” and no amount of changing settings in blender corrects this.

However, if I manually edit the exported .material to “Blend” rather than opaque the problem is fixed.

Manual editing is ok where I have just 5 signs on the building, but it would be useful to know the official answer. file to change the material to “Blend”, that resolves the issue in the sim.

Has anybody experienced this? If so, what is the materials or shader setting which forces the exporter to make the

you should be using the blender plugin for setting up image textures
with that you select Decal as the type and it will force blend mode for the alpha channel

or you can use Standard type and change/select the alpha mode to blend

Thank You! That worked very nicely. The branding on the Bitburg ATC Building was what I was struggling with. Every day is a learning day.
