• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

OK, found the problem, it's the added nodes for achieving the stripes in the glass. Once these are removed the glass is fine except there's no stripes anymore.
Anyone know how to get the frame effects / stripes on the glass?
Thanks

I just stumbled upon this and it looks like you never got any answer to your question. Hopefully you have figured out a solution but if not, here's how I would approach that. By stripes, I'm assuming you are talking about the window mullions (framing)? The mullions are really a different material than the glass and therefor should be modeled and textures as different materials. This means they need to be different "parts" in Blender. I would actually divide the cylinder into multiple polygons that look like the mullions and frame of the window. This can be done by any Blender command of your choice. One way could be loop cuts (ctrl+R in edit mode) spaced closely together for example. Then after you have the mesh divided up into polygons that look like the stripes, select the polys that are glass. Press "P" to make them their own part. Now you can assign the MSFS Glass material to that part and the MSFS Standard material to the part that represent the metal mullions. Just make sure when you export the model you select both or all the parts by pressing "A" in Object Mode". Note that the MSFS Glass material should not need a texture or any UV mapping. This means that since you will have multiple parts in Blender, when you unwrap, make sure the parts that represent glass are not selected. That way they don't get mapped on your texture. Refer to this post for great glass material settings.

Thanks for your help. I found a model on the web to purchase in the end. I will try your suggestions on my next project. Much appreciated.
