• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Boundary Fence problem

I have been using your excellent ADE version 1.05 to design an airport for FSX with (SP2)and using SDK (SP2). :)

I am unable to change the type of boundary fence and keep getting the same type of fence after compiling to the airport .BGL no matter which fence boundary fence I change to.

Can you help.

Can you provide a bit more information? There are actually only a couple of working types of boundary fence that work in FSX. Although there seem to be a number of different GUIDs they all resolve to one of two as I recall. Jim Vile has tested this so maybe he can provide a fuller explanation

FSX uses many GUID's which only call two types of fences. I can only assume that FSX was going to have 7 different types of fences but in the end only 2 types work. Those are

5 Meter Chain-link with wire, A825DE17-9AD3-4e40-8DA3-2CE71A0D7E5C
5 Meter Chain-link with bent top, 02D65B05-F752-47a3-83AF-D570243EB3EE

The problem is FSX tied those 2 types to the following Guid's. If you select one of the following then it becomes random on which of the 2 types you will get.

Tiny Boundary Fence, F2C1F621-8089-42a4-8719-E77EC7139CC4
Small Boundary Fence, C0224543-5D3F-4063-8DE4-CD6D0DE92650
Medium Boundary Fence, 5ACB60E6-992B-41c7-929B-E31D5343CD29
Large Boundary Fence, A3A491B1-EF49-47db-9C2B-080F48A5EA5D
Huge Boundary Fence, F8C92217-857D-4dad-AB16-C6258FD76CDB

When you open ADE you should select from the fence dropdown menu only 1 of the first 2 listed which are

5 Meter Chain-link with wire, A825DE17-9AD3-4e40-8DA3-2CE71A0D7E5C
5 Meter Chain-link with bent top, 02D65B05-F752-47a3-83AF-D570243EB3EE

This will insure that you get either the straight top wire fence or the bent top wire fence which are the only 2 textures in FSX for default Global fences.

Do the same thing for Blast Pad fences. Only choose one of the top 2 on the list.
