• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Bug with dae display

Hi Arno,

Using the latest build, when I import a DAE the object is initially displayed so small I can barely see it (see pic). I can zoom in, but the zoom seems very jerky and it's difficult to keep the image centered. The preview image is often tilted (looking up at the object from underneath, for example), and I also can't rotate the object as I normally could. Importing an MDL, though, works fine...none of these problems occur.

Hi,

If you have the Collapse All Parts set to false I get the same problem, with MDL files though. Try setting it to true and see if your display is OK.

It's due to MCX setting the bounding box way too big if that setting is false.

When I export the object (even though it won't display) it seems fine.

Hope this helps,

Changing the setting back to True fixed it, Tom. The collapse parts thingy is not something I have much use for, so I'll just leave it on True unless I have a specific need to change it. Thanks. :)

Hi,

Generally, the only time you need to leave it at false is when you are going to export the object as a 3DS file for import into GMAX.

Glad to help,

Hi,

I am going to check why without that settings the bounding box goes wrong.

Hi,

I think I fixed this bug in the next development release. The bounding box should now be OK with any setting of CollapseModelparts.

Thanks! I can confirm it works here too. :)

BTW, the latest development release was downloaded as:

latest_development_releases_package

And not:

latest_development_releases_package.zip

I had to add the .zip to the end after downloading it.

Hope this helps,

Hi Tom,

Let me check the extension. The build script should make a zip.

Hi,

I tried with IE and Chrome and both indeed show as a ZIP file. The script that makes the file is always the same, so I don't understand why it is sometimes not a ZIP file.
