• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey all,

I had heard months ago that FS2020 will have 'Legacy Mode' where it can run FSX planes. Was that just a bad rumor, or can FSX planes run in FS2020?

Bill

I had heard that as well, but would you happen to know exactly where they are dragged and dropped? And how does that work with the gauge, effects files, etc?

Hi,
I have try to drag and drop a FSX creation of mine under Community directory without success for the moment:
Community\C152 Tibush don't function.
Perhaps Community\Simobject\Airplanes\C152 Tibush should be more indicated. Will try today.

The try "Community\Simobject\Airplanes\C152 Tibush" don't work.!

I go to try to package my plane as you says WarpD. Yesterday, I have try to package the Sample Aircraft with success so cross the fingers ;)

I've tried packaging the DA92 also, but when running the Babylon exporter there's an error about the Output folder not existing. May I ask what you used?

I've managed to get a FSX aircraft selectable in MSFS, but I can't get the model to load visually (I have converted all textures to DDS DXT5 format) and I can't get the engine to run (even with CTRL+e). Any ideas?

Not everything imports nicely at the moment. Project Airbus A380 native FSX model in Qantas livery imported into FS2020 at YMML. Still work in progress with reflective textures to solve. Model from Project Airbus website.

It is possible. I created a thread on the official flight simulator forums in the SDK section, there's quite a large discussion there. I'm not going to link it for in case it breaks fsdeveloper's rules but feel free to browse for yourself. :)

Nice work. That gives hope.

Biggest problem is gauges. Most XML gushes will run as long as they're not drawing to the screen (from what I've read) but if they're driving 3d objects they should work fine.
The conversion to native is not that hard though as a lot is still the same (as long as you're using 3DS or Blender). I'm doing a conversion myself and hopefully will write something up for the wiki next week.

Yep. I saw that. Seems unable to draw the textures to polygons. I hope they can get that repaired.
