ADE Can't add or create thumbnails on LOM (Library Object Manager)

Hello!

I jus came across this weird situation which I've never encountered before, where ADE won't let me add a thumbnail to a new library object be it via 'Find' or 'Capture'.
If I try to 'find' and select one from my thumbs folder I get an error saying it wasn't able to load the image (that image was used as a thumbnail before). If I try to capture one, I select what I want on my screen with the rubber band, but as soon as I release it, instead of getting my thumbnail loaded it just freezes the square selection, after which if I press enter I get a message saying "A generic error occurred in GDI+".
In both cases the thumbnail does show up in the small window in the LOM, but if I save and reopen it is gone :(
Anyone knows what's up with this and/or how to fix it?

Thank you

Is ADE located in any Program Files folder? Sounds like a permissions issue to me.

Hello Tom!

It is not, I installed it on my Desktop, and I suspected that as well so I un-ticked the option which said "Read only" in the folder's properties but the issue persists! Although it wasn't exactly ticked, but a filled blue square which I think means a mix of read only and read & write folders within that folder? Windows 7 btw.

Anyone got any idea how to help me? I'm still having this issue despite reviewing all permissions properties in the ADE folder and I have every permission set for my user :/

Please confirm what version of ADE you are using

It appears that I have fixed it!! I re-installed my whole Windows 7 system about a month ago, and so I started thinking if anything was different from what it used to be, and although I couldn't think of anything (as I had copied most if not all settings and preferences files from all my FS related apps from a backup of my previous install) a weird thing happened yesterday when I was fiddling around with a custom ground poly, in that my AntiVirus initially prevented me from creating one because it 'locked' some files (thinking it was malicious software making changes in ADEs folder I presume ); that issue was promptly solved by selecting 'adding an exception' in the AV dialogue window. However after a good night's sleep that got me thinking that maybe it is my AV who's also preventing me from creating new thumbs which would make this indeed a permissions issue as Tom suggested, just not a 'regular' one. I made my entire ADE installation folder an exception from my AV's scanning and etc measures and I can now create and save thumbs with no issue just like before!
The weird thing is that I have the exact same AV program that I did before but I never had any of these issues before, and I don't recall ever adding my ADE folder to my AVs list of exceptions in my previous install :scratchch
I feel like sometimes AVs are just as intrusive and annoying as most of the viruses they protect you against
Anyways problem solved! Thanks to both of you who chimed in!

Cheers
