• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Changing colors of grass polygons

I've been using FSPlanner for a couple weeks now, and, for the most part, it's going smoothly. However, I've encountered a couple problems. 1) I've tried to modify the colors of grass, gravel and other polygons but the colors don't change after the bgl is compiled. 2) I discovered that I can't create a new polygon if it touches another one already created. For example, adding a square of grass next to a ramp polygon. I have to created the adjacent polygon so that it doesn't touch the other one. I then was able to move it into position. Now, however, when I try to move the new polygon it jumps away from the place it was created so far that I have to zoom out to find it outside the airport radius and move it into position. When I first started using the program, the new polygon only moved when I moved it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

You have to create your poly with the vertices near the place you want them and then when the poly is finished you edit it to reposition the vertices as close as you want to the edge of the other poly.

As for changing the color of the grass I am stumped, AFAIK in FSX Planner you cannot do that. You can select the type of material of the runway, apron and taxiways but nothing else. Or am I missing some easter egg feature? Everything related to ground stuff you have to do apart with FSX KML, SBUilder or something like that.

Is this the texture in FSX that you are trying to change? If so then that is only possible by changing the actual texture used by the simulator. Airport Design Programs that generate XML code for the MS Compiler (such as FSXP) just specify the apron (runway or taxiway) surface type. It is then up the scenery engine in FS to interpret that. Thus if you want to change the grass color you can replace the relevant texture - but bear in mind that this is usually going to change all the grass aprons world-wide.
