• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello all, Using Google Earth, I have located [top view] an historical monument, called Citadelle that I'd like to appear in FS9 and FSX. I saved the picture in jpg and bmp and the location:N19*34.41 W72*14,61 Alt 2746ft (mountain top).I am looking for the best advices on ways to proceed. I understand that I should create at least a BGL file to go into a Scenery folder and Addon Scenery, as well as a Texture + files. Any suggestions about the best sotfwares to use are quite welcome. If possible, notify me by e-mail (Rlbance@aol.com) of any reply-postings
Thank you
Bob

Hi Bob,

Do you want to make a 3D version of the citadelle or do you just want to place an areal photo containing a picture of it in FS? For each of these things you would have to use different tools.

For making a 3D model you could take a look at GMax, when you want to place a photo in FS you need to look more at the terrain tools.

Hi Arno, Thanks a lot for replying. Was out of town and late in following. The view of this "Citadelle" from Google Earth is the real thing as well as the Coordonates that I have posted. See attachement. I don't know how it would appear in FS9. I looked at Gmax and probably would give a 3D job. I am willing to check them both and will appreciate your suggestions.
My intentions is to provide a realistic view of this historic monument while in flight. If it is possible for you, use Google Earth and let me know.
Regards
Bob
