• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have recently downloaded CAT and the Make Library program. When I use the EXE of either I get the following error message, "Component 'COMDL32.OXC' or one of it's dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".

Can someone please tell me what my problem is and how to take care of it?

Thanks
Al Gay

I have now tried to use the exe file for OBPlacer and also get an error, slightly different, "Compnent 'MSFXGRD.OXC' or one of it's dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Al,

I would advice you to install the Visual Basic 6 runtime files. For more information see MicroSoft:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290887

I think this should solve the problems, if not please let me know. I can also make a full install version of the tools that installs all the needed files as well (but that makes the download a lot bigger, so in general I do not do so).

Thanks for the reply Arno. I downloaded and installed Visual Baisc Runtime files and that did not solve my problem. Do you have any other suggestions please?

Hi Al,

Please try this file:

EDIT: File removed as it did not really work

This should install all runtime files needed by my tools. During the install it will ask you for a path, but nothing is installed there. Only the common files are installed in the windows\system32 folder.

Please let me know if this works, then I can add this file to the tools forum for others with the same problems.

Hi Arno,

Thanks again for your quick response. I attempted to install the common files you directed me to. I downloaded the info to a temp folder and ran the exe from there but it will not load. I get another error message as follows:

"Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like to update these files now. (I did click OK but it did not appear to update anything) You will need to restart windows before you run setup again. Click cancel to exit setup without updating the system."

After I clicked OK I did re-boot and tried the setup again and it gave me the same message.

I have a feeling I have something missing on my system but don't know what.

I recently put in a new motherboard and cpu. Windows was reloaded from my CD. I have since done all of the updates for XP except the Service
Pack II. I have been told that installing this does a real "hatchet job" on frame rates so I omitted it. (Advice would be nice on this subject)

Once again any further help would be most appreciated.

Hi Al,

Maybe the advice of Nick helps, that depends on if the files are already in your system folder or not. Could you see if they are already there? In that case registering should be enough.

About SP2. I did not notice a negative effect on the framerates. In total I have no problems with it.

Thanks again Arno,

Things appear to be working now. I did have to download one of those files and registered it and now things appear to work. I spent a couple hours on the telephone with Microsoft also as one of thier critical uploads would not go into my computer and he talked me through fixing that.

Keep up the great work.

Al
