• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Compile Error Message

I am currently using ADE v01.70.6028 and am getting the message:

Could not find a part of the path
E:Downloads\ade_169_5930_rcl_full\FSX\Xml\TFFR_ADEX_AP.xml

when compiling after editing a default airport (with the xml file name varying according to what is being edited). I'm not sure it has any effect on the compiled files, but how should I correct this?

Hi Art:

Just a guess, but I'm wondering about a file / folder permissions issue; did you install and start ADE using the "Run as Administrator" option ? :scratchch

One could also manually verify the current assigned file paths in the appropriate configuration dialogs for ADE.

If the smiley in the name is hiding ":d" then there looks like a missing backslash. I am using lower case to avoid the smiley. I would expect the path to start e:\downloads\ade_......

To be more specific, Jon (I mean Gary, euh, Art:))

Cheers,

Well done, Roby; it's the details that make the difference in these endeavors (...I was only on my 1st cup of coffee when I replied above !) ;)

BTW: You're really "on top of your Game" recently; keep up the nice work ! :)

< Oops ...I used the "G"-word again at FSDeveloper ! :p >

1. I have this program's properties set to run as administrator under the compatibility tab.
2. I don't know how the smiley face got there. Is is indeed E:\Downloads. I really don't understand why ADE is looking for this path in the downloads folder unless something went wrong when the program was installed from that folder.
3. I have XML options set to "don't save".

This appears to have been resolved by reinstalling the program. I suspect that I initially ran it from the downloads folder and then moved it to another location.

Thanks for that followup, Art. :)

I haven't seen Scruffyduck's ADE 'automatic configuration wizard' fail to properly set file / folder paths during setup in recent versions, so I was initially a bit baffled as to how your scenario above may have originally occurred.

Many thanks to Jon Masterson (and the ADE "team") for all the hard work with ADE over the years ! :wizard:

ADE would have picked up the download folder path if you ran it initially from there. If you then moved the installation you would have moved the settings files and the original folder probably no longer existed - that might be the error
