• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Convert FS9 to FSX

I would like to convert some FS9 FP's that I am working with and using UT II FSX.

I do not want the 37 minute rule imposed and need my Aircraft.txt to stay with the TAS as seen in the SDK for each type AI Plane.

Selecting 'Convert FS9 Traffic Files to FSX does not un-ghost the RAW compiler mode. Is there a way to use the Raw compiler without loading some type of FP first? Loading any type FP will allow selection of the Raw Mode.

Jim,

All you need do is decompile the bgls with TTools then open them in AIFPC and select "Compile Traffic .bgl" with "Compile for FSX" checked. You may get various warnings but ignore those.

I used AIFPC and it would not capture all the FS9 FP's. After the conversion to FSX only the first 3 alpha (out of 20) listed airlines would show (ACA, BAW, CPA).

Went to AIFP and compiled in RAW Mode but like you say I have to decompile the FS9 FP and then load the TTool FS9 FP.txt (or any FP.txt) into AIFP before I can compile in RAW mode.

I was hoping I could choose between RAW and Normal Mode without loading any FP txt since AIFP does not seem to care what FP .txt is loaded in the window as long as something is loaded which unghost the Raw Mode.

Jim, I'm not sure what do you mean by "unghost" the Raw Mode? I assume you mean get access to it.

I hadn't appreciated until now that convert FPs didn't use the Raw compile mode. However, it's easy to add an option and I'll do so for the next release.

For your immediate problem, you should be able to accomplish what I understand you want to do by simply loading the FS9 traffic file and compiling for FSX in the Raw mode. (If the traffic file was not compiled with AIFP's "normal" compile mode, AIFP won't touch the cruise speeds on decompile.)

You'll have to do it for every traffic fie, but that should work.

Correct

AIFP will load a FS9 FP bgl when I select Convert FS9 Traffic to FSX but from that point on Raw Mode cannot be selected. I load any FP into AIFP and Raw Mode is now selectable. I now check Raw Mode and then convert from FS9 to FSX.

I was looking for a way to be able to check Raw Mode without loading a actual FP in the window since the convert FS9 to FSX as per AIFP is done with the FS9 FP bgl and not a FS9 FP .txt.

Load the FS9 .bgl into AIFP and then, under the Flight Plans menu, select "Convert Airports for FSX". The Compile Raw mode will still be enabled. Compile Raw for FSX and you should have whatt you want.

As well, if there's any doubt about cruise speeds in the aircraft list, you can always restore them all from the Aircraft menu.
